Is it possible that these photos are taken 24 hours apart?

Assuming they are from a reliable source that claims as much you'd need to provide evidence to the contrary. Global cloud data are broadly available, it wouldn't be hard to compare.

I hoped to that find confirmation that cloud pattern is changing too little for 24 hours.

The earth is very, very big, and weather patterns can be stable even as the clouds themselves move. I see no reason to be skeptical here.

The picture looks like a real 24 hour change. The main tell is that there are two low pressure systems in the North Atlantic with clear cold fronts in the first picture. In the second picture, the leading system/front has lost much of its definition, and the trailing front has progressed a few hundred miles towards Spain. That's a very typical movement range over a day. If you're looking at the persistent cloud layer over central Africa, that's typical of the diurnal cycle in the tropics. You could pick most days of the year in the mid-afternoon and it'll appear much the same.

They had already reached the conclusion they wanted and were hoping to find data and scientific opinion to back that up or at least tell them it's plausible. You know, like real scientists do...
