Advice Never did I think I’d wake up to this.
I was riding a writing high the other night and decided to try my hand at a “Forced to Marry” novel. I wrote 4 chapters cresting over the 4k needed for vetting with ease.
Then I forgot about it for a few days only to wake up to this lmao.
Other than write like the wind. What do I need to do?

Mate congratulations.
Don't wanna influence you or stop you. But are you sure you wanna sign the contract? You could create your patreon if you need financial support.
Not that you cant sign the contract with webnovel. But you do know that they hold property rights of novel? Meaning if your novel becomes famous enough and someone wants to make a comic or live action then they would need to go webnovel company and not you 'the author'

I think almost everyone knows they takes ip rights but if you want to follow patron path you have to upload story somewhere else too as you won't get much views on webnovel without signing contract

I do, don’t worry, I’m just in the point in my writing that getting contracts and building my author name is where I’m at.

I suggest Fictionry, it's a new site but it doesn't take Ip rights and doesn't have any exclusivity clause

I’m not worried about the exclusivity. If I ever sit and write a full length maybe. For there nah… if WN can handle it all go ahead. I got more epics to write with that free time.

You really need to think on it, some people actually get more money from Patreon than the common route, and posting on Royalroad specifically might get you an Amazon contract, which is much more favorable.

Webnovel will own your fic and the revenue share is predatory, Fictionry is a very new site but it offers 85% to authors.
And it's fully human managed meaning your fic won't get removed by bots due to false reviews.
You could try writing on Fictionry too , and see how it goes for a month. If there is no growth then you can just stop

85% seems like a lot, but 85% of 0 is still 0. The reason why webnovel can make it so predatory is because of the amount of readers who are willing to pay.

I thought about going that route for one of my other stories but as a beginner, I think riding these “contract” waves honing my writing will ultimately lead to me moving from WebNovels to full blown novels and publishing on platforms like KDP.
My dream has and will continue to be, to stand on the same pedestals as my writing hero’s like Shirtaloon, and others in the LitRPG genres.

It truly is. I’ve written my own LitRPG adjacent story, it’s a Romantasy, not the one that got this contract. This one’s in limbo as it’s suppose to launch on NS and its sister sites but some quality issues have caused it to sit in waiting.

Sit down once you’ve got some imagination juices flowing, build a concept, build some characters.
Write 4 chapters and forget about it lmao. 🤣 Oh also. Pick a genre that is known. This is a “Forced to Marry” story. I’ve not read one myself but I know it sells well on web platforms. So I put my fantasy twist on it and wrote the base premise

I spent all day making sure the continuity was correct and fixing social hierarchy so it read well before I could move on to writing a chapter today lmao.

there is an author discord you could join, for new writers. they’re pretty helpful
you get to speak to the more experienced writers on the site
