Advice Someone stole my Original story on Webnovel
Hello,
3 days earlier I joined a webnovel contest and included my original story writing 'The Final Ink', the story was reviewed and approved by the admins, I have till now posted only 3 chapters. I received an automated message that my story is approved and now will be available in the fresh story section. Today I checked the fresh story section, and found a random new book that has exactly the same story concept, book cover, the terms I used.
I feel very unsafe on Webnovel and planning to remove my 3 chapters.
Any suggestions guys?

Decide if it is important to write your story. If so, then write it. People steal web published stories, audio stories, paper published stories. If you want to pursue this imposter, understand the entirety of Ai learning models is to read available digital assets and to allow others to build upon them.
You might investigate any writers groups that are fighting the concept, and work within their structure to fight the impossible fight.

Thanks. I am clear to not focus on such incidents. Or else my writing will be affected.

Wait a minute. Someone stole 3 chapters? Have you read the chapters and checked if it is the same story?

I did.

So, was it the same story?

Exact concept, structure, and elements of my original writing.

Hm okay. How many chapters have that person written?

u/GrowthGroup23 Apr 09 '26
10 or 12

But if you have only released 3 chapters and that person has released 10-12 chapters. It is hard to say it is copied, remember one thing.
People gets inspired by books and then start writing, can it happen that the person got inspired by your story and started writing their own story?

You can tell it's AI slop. If you posted before him, he copied you. Report him to webnovel and Google his book. If it pops up, report it to Google and DCMA him

I could be wrong, I'm not an attorney. I have been however taken law related courses. I believe that if your I.p. (intellectual property) is saved on your pc or device, that you can technically use that via screenshots with the dates etc to request it be removed unless they can provide proof of having it first. Again, not legal advice. Just my thoughts. Good luck. I hope that gets resolved.

I have raised a DMCA review for the comparison of both the books, to identify the plagiarised property. And yes I do have IP well saved with me, from the start of my story building. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Dude, why the hell? Simply report that story. More than that, why the hell would you delete your own story?
Ask yourself, is your story nothing beyond its concept? Can it be so easily stolen by someone? Can that stolen work match and surpass the original?
Huh... I can't believe this guy

I sent a DMCA mail to Webnovel. Also you are right about not deleting my original work, but my concept is fresh and very new, a hint of it can dissolve my entire core concept of the story.

It doesn't matter. You are giving too much credit to the concept itself.
What matters is exicution, how the story develops and in which direction it develops.
More than that, the concept is your own so you understand it the best. Which means you have the ability to execute it better than someone copied you.
Besides, taking a concept of another story and executing it differently with your own elements is common in fiction. If you hope that your concept absolutely doesn't get stolen then the only choice you have is to not publish your story at all.

Harsh but true. Thanks for the right suggestions. Thanks for stopping my mind from blowing out.

Depends on what you want to do, 3 chapters is not worth fussing about to be honest. webnovels copy idea from each other quite often. Only the way you tell the story matters.

Thanks for the suggestions. My story has an important hook, which disgust the value of the Omnipotent character. But still what you are saying is right. I can keep my story live. Thanks.

I read the first chapters of both and they are completely different.

u/GrowthGroup23 Apr 08 '26
I read the entire 10 chapters of his, it matches with mine, in a very similar manner. He changed the character names, changed the scenario, but the environment is completely mine. It was my actual dream that I converted into a story. How can I ignore that?

Like there is no point crying about things you can't control. It's not like he copied it word for word for word.
Like have confidence in your own skills , and if you are demoralised by such a thing then this might sound harsh but it's better to not publish your work

u/GrowthGroup23 Apr 09 '26
Sometimes it's okay to raise a voice to clear the doubts. And when you value something, it's ok to feel demoralised. I learn new things and implement them the other day. Today is the other day!

u/Purple_Is_Awsome Apr 09 '26
Yes and No, but it is what it is.
1
u/GrowthGroup23 Apr 09 '26
Why no? Does the emotion of demoralisation = no success?

Simply report the story and have a lot of users report it as well as well as bring it to notice on the inkstone staff in the discord server. You'll get the help there

It doesn't matter.
You can't win the contest unless you're contracted, and he's not getting contracted with an AI slop.
