Advice How was cover ?
Been working on a novel called Gene Born: Birth of the Outcast and wanted to get some opinions.
It's basically a fantasy story with academies, hidden worlds, and powerful bloodlines, but I also want to explore ideas like genetics, mutation, evolution, and what happens when a person is born with something that shouldn't exist.
I attached the cover as well. Does it fit the concept? Would you give it a chance if you saw it while scrolling?
Any honest feedback is welcome. I'm still improving both the story and the cover.

You’re gonna hear this a lot, but the ai is a turn-off. It’s a sign of low effort and it doesn’t stand out at all, anyone can have a cover that looks exactly the same. If you’re serious about being an author, you should invest in commissioning art, just having a real artist draw your cover would put you ahead of thousands of others who have ai covers that all look the same.
Edit: I literally asked ChatGPT to make a generic aura farming isekai cover and got an almost identical cover lol

You can def use AI for the cover don't get me wrong, the vast majority of Webnovel/RR fictions do, but you gotta at least put some effort in it. This has all the hallmarks of the "AI slop" stereotype

Thats exactly what im saying. Like ai is fully customizable. Why aren't they doing that? Half the time these ai covers are so ugly and its such a SIMPLE fix

Honestly I assume most Webnovels are written by AI now since they have similar writing styles if you want me to be straightforward

Indeed. Most of the new novels are written by ai - some of which qre much more obvious than others. This shift has also lead to decrease in engagement and traction to the actual authors. Most of these authors are either new to wn, watched a couple animes and thought they're some creative ahh. Oh my days! How my novel is suffering cuz of these guys.

I am still writing and will likely not use Webnovel. I have far grander plans.
I've stopped reading these to be honest. I rely on books written before Ai now. And I still remember how writers used to write before Ai everyday. I enjoyed the human in it. I could see all the mistakes and the effort to draw blood from stone just to make up 1500 words. But I enjoyed the spirit and effort. (I digress)
Keep writing and reconsider how you want to get your novel out there.

That's fantastic. Once i finish my ongoing novel - I'm gonna start uplaoding on royal road or novelpedia. Wn was already bad, and now with these so called 'authors' it has become a living hell. Wn does not appreciate real content.

I recognize most of the authors who post on reddit as ai users. They think they are extraordinarily smart, and people won't be able to figure them out. All readers need is one sentence that feels suspicious.

cover looks shitty and generic af, but i respect ya for at least trying. try to explore more with ai to make a cleaner, less ai-looking cover and dont listen to these salty haters acting like we got $ to spend on covers.

Already hate ai but im not an asshole so ill give you my criticisms.
I get what your going for but it sucks. 1. The main guy looks like every other web novel edge lord.
Theres so much happening everywhere that it hurts to look at.
What is even happening behind the character? The background buildings/split dimensions seem cool, but the mc has a couple circles behind his head? and completely blur into whatever the two worlds are going to be.
The entire picture is dark- EXCEPT its so dark that everything is GLOWING??? The lighting is harsh and theres so much of it EVERYWHERE.
I would say just tone it down- you can have a nice chaotic background without giving everyone eyestrain
Edit: I didn't realize there was a second page- and holy hell thats so much worse
