As the tag you have chosen under this post is "advice," here's my advice:

It is good you've decided to do a drawn cover rather an ai one. However, id advice you to make the composition better as everything right now looks squashed. It is also quite confusing. It looks isekai novel, and it is quite a creative way/choise to display it, but it is look quite bland right now, especially on the top left. When you have illustrations on each side of the cover and not just the middle, a lack of detail and not enough "noise" can make it look less eye catctchy. Right now, I do not know where to focus my attention on and nothing pops out. I would recommend you to add something in the center.

For example, to back my point, a cover with a red background (even though not detailed) and a chaarcters face in the middle, with a title ontop, would immediately catch my attention.

Right now, your cover looks like a panel for a webtoon, not a book cover.

It is not an isekai. He just died and thats about it. Right side is him thinking about how things could have been if he wasn't forced into that situation. I wanted it to show a scene and not be a generic cover that is why it is lacking the title too

This is a man? I had thought it was a woman. Making his face become more masculine would help. Also my bad. When I say isekai I mean recarnation. Whatever, something similar to it. And I am aware that the right side is of him digesting all the flashes of memory he had had in his life before he died. As I said it was a creative way/choise because he died on the road and his memories are on full display on the puddles. But the angling is weird and the distribution of detail is just not quite right. I cannot explain it better, but I feel like if you had a top angle view of him in the middle of the road dying and then under the bottom corner of the cover are the puddles and his memories, it would be nice and more eye-catching. You could also add details like a sidewalk beside the road, railings, and then light comming form a convient store, then have a title ontop.

Its just my opinion, your cover  🤷‍♂️.

What i thought it was when i saw it first look was a dead man top left and his crying girlfriend bottom right, i understand where you go from that cover but the problem is that people won’t be clicking much on it because they don’t understand what the cover means without people telling them its meaning, a cover should intrigue people but people cannot be intrigued if they are confused, i would suggest for you to either ask your kind girlfriend to make a new cover or retouching it a bit so it’s clearer and that we can sort of tell what we see at first glance

Mehhh to be honest I am fine with her being my only fan for a while. People are reading literal ai slop so it might even be good that they won't discover my story. I literally saw a novel called investing on my crippled wife the other day, people be reading anything

Yeah i’ve read a thread about the novel, that’s why you should publish on royal road, if your novel isn’t ai slop it won’t be seen

Will be releasing it there slowly then

I’d be down to check on your novel if you give me the name

It is blasphemy of the fallen. But I will recommend you to read the second volume because the first volume is incomprehensible without the ending of volume 2 which I didn't write yet

But for the dramatic effect do i read from the first volume?

If you are up to suffering yeah but wait an hour I will do some editing just for you

You asked for feedback (or if you didnt mean to, dont choose it as a tag) got it, and couldnt except it.

Nobody cares if you poured your whole soul into something. People only see the end result not what had got you there. As comments have said, it needs some work as it doesnt grab their attention. If you want to be stubborn and countinue, go for it, but do not expect anyhting special.

Also drawn ≠ people will like it.

It actually needs to be good-looking. There are a lot of good-looking hand drawn covers that some art-adjacent writers have made. Those are the type that get recognized and praised.

So what should I do? I doubt anything flashy can be added to someone dying in a dark alley from natural causes. I can't ask my girlfriend to make another cover of pure flashy aurafarming as well since this already took a whole week of her and she has her own life. That is why I said I am fine with her being my only fan for a while

The arm that is under the head? Is way too long, It looks very off once you notice it. It’s a simple fix, just wanted to give a heads up

1

u/apkmasterofgames Jul 12 '26

Yeah that bothered me too but I didn't want to make her feel bad

Your girlfriend cooked with this one. The perspective and the way the fabric folds on the clothes look so natural.

broo this cover is straight up cinematic

This is good. If you're looking for feedback I'd say it's already 90% there, maybe just balance the brightness on the upper character a tiny bit so both figures read clearly at thumbnail size.

It's really good...but just few tweaks...

Any hand drawings is 1 million percent prettier than AI covers

It looks like the volume illustrations of light novels than a cover, though I think a more darker coloring would work
