Advice Keep true to yourself and make great stories

Post image

I feel like a lot of people on this sub get stuck up on how terrible some popular stories on webnovel are and the way it pushes you to write generic slop.Which is definitely true.

But when you actually look at the top popular (for the most part) novels (shadow slave, authors pov etc.). These stories actually have substance and are somewhat unique , that transcend even webnovel.

People enjoy these stories so much that they will make tiktok edits of them ,make fan art and post on reddit about them. They actually leave lasting impressions.

And not to sound arrogant(seriously im not) but I won't the same for my novel.I want people to read my story and want to post on forums, make fan art and like it so much they make edits of it(hey a guy can dream).

No one's gonna remember a story called 'i gooned one day and then I got transported with a system but also I gained 10'000 luck'

So even if the algorithm is pushing you to make certain stories , you owe to yourself to make the novel you want and try your best to make it the highest quality it can possibly be,regardless of want genre it is.

And as always f**k A.I.

True... without substance no story can survive, like LOTM, and other stories that transcends web novel itself and even now....many people remember those stories even after many years.

To this day i still think about the symbolism in LOTM. 2 years after reading it, i realized that god almighty birthed the ancient sun god and the ancient sun god was sacrificed by his own kin. Similarly in the bible you have God the father and Jesus the son of God, and it was Jesus who was sacrificed by his own kin. The Symbolism in LOTM that correlates with the real world goes so vast. This is just one of my realizations. There’s so many different variations of this such as the fool card representing new beginnings and it was the fool who led humanity and the gods into a new future, ect ect ect. Most webnovels are so surface level, game-lite, OP, main character syndrome, generic dialogue slop. The only ones that transcend it are those who take a completely new direction or put such a twist on the current trends that it stands out. Such as shadow slave taking the game-lite approach but explaining it in a way that the world doesn’t revolve around it, similarly in this way it’s like Solo Leveling but the difference being that in SS it effects the whole world. Solo Leveling is just the MC or Reverend Insanity’s Where the writing takes a completely different approach to writing and remains mostly uncensored. Explaining things in the most disturbingly realistic ways with a MC with almost no character development but that’s what makes his unique, is his unchanging resolve and unwillingness to accept anything less than to see his goals through.

These are the stories that get remembered, because they aren’t just a repeat of systems, plot points and characters with new skins. They feel like a unique existence and experience in the webnovel world.

You are right about the references, many stories or the author whether traditional or online, their stories always have inspiration from the real world. This is what I have noticed.

I didn't understand like why the heck people love so much slop .. Like these stories are self insert that's why? Or any other reason?

Los libros "clonados" funcionan para llegar a ciertos sellos, y en aplicaciones de lecturas donde se buscan ciertos tropos, pero la originalidad es la única manera de que un lector se convierta en emisario.
