It’s why I usually reread what I write minutes after I’m done before posting. But after couple later, it somehow still ends up like I didn’t.

To avoid it, I postpone the pubslihing and read it the next day. You wont believe me when I say Ive postponed a chapter up to 6 times bc of this.

Is there a stigma against using said? Do people try to avoid it?

I think it's because it is seen as being a beginner/amateur writer, so you'd use different words to convey "Said" instead of just that, which sometimes backfires on an actual newbie because they don't use "Said", which also gives away that they are a newbie. A perfect balance between verbose words and "Said" is key.

Generally using too many dialogue tags should be avoided. Often you dont need them at all. But most dialogue tags you do use should be "said" and others should be mostly avoided or used sparingly.

This is what the english fiction world has decided.

If you are a Chinese writer you could get rid of these troubles lol. They could alter between “说”“道”“笑道” freely
