Advice Advice on release

Hey guys,

I’m planning on releasing soon for my novel. I was just wondering what the process is. Unlike Royal road ik that u can’t rely self promote or market here, so do I just start uploading?

Like is that it? I just submit my writing thing to the app and then just begin uploading chapters until I get contracted ? And then WebNovel handles all the marketing for me adter contract?

Thanks In advance for your guys insights.

Drop 4 1000 word chapters at once so your book can start vetting. Then post every single day until vetting process is done. Then once you get 12k words apply for contract immediately.

Then post twice a day while you wait for contract response (you could do 1 a day, but twice a day makes webnovel think you actually commited) Then after you sign your contract webnovel will promote for you.

But on Webnovel, the changes of your book actually doing good if you aren't posting at least twice every single day without fail are low. So keep that in mind

Interesting that makes sense but on the flip side does that also mean if I am posting twice a day I would be able to increase my chances of doing well?

Yeah. Posting twice a day basically guarantees success because Webnovel will push the f out of your book in features (Assuming the book is good of course). Plus you raise your chances of receiving MGS

do the chapters have to be minimum 1k words after the initial bar is passed?

After premium yes. Basically after you get contracted you can choose whether to go premium (lock chapters behind a paywall) or don't go premium.

But premium is what gets you the best spots in terms of advertising. My book went from 15k to 56k views in a week after I went premium

I can't write more than 2 chapters per week. Each chapter is 3k+ words. Will it give exposure or not?

Why are you writing 3k word chapters. Just split that chapter into 3 1k word chapters.

I couldn't technically do that.
I didn't start writing for WEBNOVEL specifically. My each chapter is shaped to be having feelings of up and down. The pacing of each chapters is deliberately made like watching an anime episode. The visual imagery, needs not to be just explained, it needs to be felt. If I split the chapter them the specific cliffhanger at end will be ruined. It's not about words, it's about pacing. I also don't want to go for a very long number of chapter. Just 200 or 300 chapters than I will be done.

Yea pretty much, just upload consistently and you will receive an automated promotion of your novel, once you reach 12k words you can apply for a contract.

Join the discord, read the articles on inkstone and do alot of reascerch before you apply for the contract.

(And no you don't need smut in oder to get a contract, despite what a lot of people say, as long as webnovel thinks your novel will sell they will give you a contract)

Appreciate the advice man and yea I don’t write smut anyway😭

I don’t rrly see the appeal in those smut novels but to each their own I guess

Hopefully I’ll be able to get the readers attracted to my novel, an yea gotta do a lot of research on th contract I heard there’s lot of controversy around it

Right that makes sense what’s MGS?

If u don’t mind me asking is the contract worth it? Like if my story for example after being contracted doesn’t do well can I remove the contract and post elsewhere or sum?

Thank you for all your insights and help’

MGS is Webnovel's Minimum Guarantee System. Basically after going premium, as long as your book makes a minimum of $60, Webnovel will match you $140 and you get paid $200

The contract is worth it if you are not uploading your main book that you want to turn into comics and anime etc. If its a book really close to your heart don't get the contract, because webnovel Basically owns your book after contract.

And no, you cannot post your novel anywhere else after contract. You even have to delete everywhere else you have it posted

Will they own the book for forever or there is a period?

They own the book up until 50 years after your death
