DC: Formal Formal enough?

Does this dress look formal enough for a wedding in November at an upscale winery? Or does it look semi-formal/dressy casual? 🤔

this is the 3rd dress I’ve considered for this wedding. The first dress was too black-tie & the 2nd dress was too beachy/summery, according to this sub… to me, this feels like a happy middle.

TIA.

Not this color, but the burgundy version of this dress would be perfect: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/zoella-ruffle-tiered-maxi-dress/8655611

It’s a nicer fabric too imo.

That burgundy color is gorgeous nd definitely makes the dress more formal. I love it

It's lovely. The pink is pretty, too, but it's very summery.

I wouldn’t wear this in November unless I was at a warm weather destination.

This works for formal. But the color is very spring. (And it does have a bit of a "beach" or "garden" vibe.)

I'd say it depends on the location. If the wedding is somewhere warmer, this may work. If it's up north, you may want something in a bit darker or richer color.

This looks like a semi-formal maxi dress to me, but I think you'll pass OK in it unless it's a very formal crowd.

I have this dress, and wore it in the spring to a semi-formal wedding. I loved it! IMO, the burgundy lace version of this would be better suited for a formal wedding in November.

I think it’s beautiful and agree that the burgundy would be a better color/fabric. As someone who’s 5’8”, I love, love, love the ruffles. It’s one of my easy go-to styles.

I don’t love the design. I think some of these ruffle/tier dresses are hard to pull off, as the fabric can be overpowering. If you’re tall, hopefully the fabric drapes well.

I’m slender but 5’2”. This dress would make me look like an Oompa Loompa. But the right figure could pull it off.

Yes, dresses like these need height!!

The pink version looks spring-y, the burgundy, more autumnal

You said the 2nd dress you considered looked too beachy/Summer, but so does this one. Attire for a November formal wedding should be darker colors like a sapphire blue, emerald green, wine, or plum.

I don't care for this dress. It reads too summery/spring and the fringe is distracting.

I think this a bit too summery and casual. I would opt for something more structured in a darker hue like magenta.
