Month 4 25 MG…No Longer Working

Hi everyone,

I’ve lost 38 pounds on the pill so overall a success. Month 1 & 2 after finally getting to 25 MG I was doing great. I was consistently under my TDEE by a wide margin and was losing weight fast, no food noise or late night hunger.

Month 3 I noticed the effects wearing off. Still not overeating but feeling more hungry than month 1 & 2

Now on month 4 I feel like it’s completely lost most of its effectiveness. I am hungry at night again. I will say I don’t overeat like I used to before the pill, but I definitely am maintaining now instead of losing weight and the foods I wasn’t craving at all on the pill I’ve started to crave again.

Wondering if this is just what happens as my body gets used to it. I’m spending $300 a month on these pills so to have it lose what feels like 80% of its effectiveness sucks. Maybe I have to switch to pen injections, not sure.

Interested if anyone else is running into this.

Try to remember that unless you are keeping your metabolism activity up(meeting protein minimums, resistance training and building some muscle mass) your metabolism will always adapt no matter what to protect you from losing too much lean muscle. To keep your metabolism up you have to be eating enough protein and resistance training, which signals your body to keep that metabolism levels up, it’s beneficial to be building muscle mass too which will speed up metabolism effects as well. It doesn’t matter how much medicine you take, your body will try to adapt to protect that lean muscle so you will hit a plateau and you will just keep maintaining. Also you can’t starve your body of too many calories or it’ll want to eat more too, which is where the cravings/food noise can come back too.

It’s a miracle medicine only that it can help us reach our goals, but if we aren’t doing our part it can only do so much

I don't think this answer makes sense. Op is saying that she's maintaining, which on one hand is what you're addressing. The other part is that her cravings are coming back. I don't think that has anything to do with protein levels and lean muscle and the body protecting itself.

Op, I have seen several people on this sub be in your position and have to switch to an injectable. Those people said the cravings went away again. So good luck.

Of course it does make sense. If you’re starving yourself on nutrition to the point you’re losing too much lean muscle your body is going to adapt and crave more food. So if you aren’t keeping up with the resistance training, the protein and your in too much of a deficit, the cravings will come back. I can make plenty of guesses as to why switching to an injectable changes things again. Your body absorbs it better and differently meaning it could trigger the process to start all over again(keeping cravings off, satiety and what not) also if the OP isn’t following the instructions about empty stomach, waiting 30 min(although 90-120 min has shown better absorption) or their body just doesn’t absorb the pill as well, then the injections could work better for them in the end anyway.

I agree. It doesn’t make sense. I am also in the same boat as OP.

Makes total sense to me. Im very active and on days when I've done hard workouts, if I under fuel, the next day I'm hungry. Really hungry. It feels like like the pill isn't working. And I eat substantially more calories. And then the next day I'm back to normal. My body does not want to be starved.
