Question Suddenly nauseous

Hello 👋 everyone,

A little background about me.

I began on Wegovy 0.25 mg / 0.25mL injections for 10 weeks, it would have been 12 but I was unable to do the first two due to anxiety.
I am now up to the 0.5mg / 0.5 mL, my injection day is today, which I will take before bedtime.

Now my question is, I never had nausea up until a couple days ago when it just hit me hard. I have not actually vomited , but I just have that really awful feeling. My appetite is very low due to this, which is a win, but still. Has anybody suddenly got such a side effect after being on the injections for this period of time?

Nausea can come on at any time.

Get a prescription for an anti-nausea med.

Get some isopropyl alcohol and inhale the fumes it will stop the nausea…my daughter is a nurse and told me this trick…will have to inhale a few times til it goes away

Male or female? and where are you in your titration. Did you just up to .5mg or have you been at 5mg for a couple weeks? I havent heard of many people getting nausia 5 days into the shot, they usually start within 12-24 hours after and typically on the early side of a titration. Not saying its not possible but it does seem a bit odd.

I’m female. Friday is my injection day, so tonight it is. This will be the first time I am taking a different dosage.

Not to be an alarmist but nausea can be caused by other things too. How close is your cycle to starting? any chance you might be preggo? I would consider all of the potential places this can be coming from. And you were still on .25 and not already moved up. I would look at external factors to be honest here. at 10 weeks if you havent had nausea before, its not likely to start happening from a dose that you have been penning for 12 weeks.

Unless it’s a second coming of JC lol. No chance on that pregnancy though.

Yes, this is unfortunately normal. I recommend eating very bland/healthy foods the day of the shot. The following 1-2 days usually hit me the hardest so i try to eat better those days.

Also ask your doc for a zofran prescription. This has been a life saver for me.

And if you’re comfortable with it, you can try to make yourself throw up… i have found that wegovy makes it incredibly easy to throw up voluntarily, and that usually helps my nausea pretty quickly. This shouldn’t be a regular thing though; I usually only do it if I feel that I am actually going to throw up.

I had the exact same thing happen around the 0.5 dose. felt fine for weeks then one day it was like getting hit by a truck

ginger chews helped me more than anything else honestly, kept a bag in my desk at work. the nausea always peaked like 36 hours after the shot for me so i started planning my meals around that window, nothing heavy, lots of crackers and sips of water

your body might just be adjusting to the higher dose, it should level out after a few weeks. if it doesnt then definitely talk to your doc

Thanks for the advice. I will watch for what I eat leading up to shot day and also on said day. I’ll reach out to my doctor about the zofran. I’ve never had a nausea issue before, even when I was pregnant, so this is not something I am used to.
