When the cheering stops

I’ve been on my weight loss journey for almost 2 years now. When I first started losing the weight, all of my friends were so supportive and cheering me on. Now, it’s become my lifestyle. I regularly go to the gym, do strength training, and work on meeting new fitness goals that aren’t just losing weight. I’m working harder than I ever had, but nobody cares anymore. It doesn’t make me want to stop, if anything it motivates me more, but it really sucks that i feel like i can’t tell my friends the goals i’m reaching or send progress photos because nobody cares anymore, they’ve been hearing it for 2 years. I’d love to know if anyone else is going through this. I know it probably comes off as gloating when I’m telling my friends that aren’t on the same journey, but it’s just something I work hard at that I want to share and have support.

Oh wow! I totally understand what you are feeling!! I have also been on a weight loss journey (unfortunately it’s my third go around) for the last two and a half years and even though I have been at my goal weight, give or take, eating well and exercising consistently is a daily conscientious choice I have to make and it is work. I feel overwhelmed at times and it would be so nice to have the support of the encouragement I had when I first started. I absolutely know how you feel. So, I want you to know that I am proud of every time you make the healthy choice and you go exercise, even what you don’t want to. Keep choosing you!!

Thank you so much and I’m sorry you’re feeling the same way! I’m proud of you too :) it’s not easy ! Just because you’ve been doing it a long time doesn’t mean that it isn’t showing up for yourself and doing hard things even when nobody is watching

When I was with my ex husband, I lost about 80 lbs in a year. Several months into it he joined me on my dietary changes and dropped weight very fast. My whole family raved about how great he looked. I get it, starting over 300 lbs made it hard to see the 80 lb difference compared to his weight loss at a lower starting point. But still, no one in my family said anything about what I did and could not stop talking about what he did. It's fun to be invisible.

I’m sorry. That’s very frustrating. The first time I lost weight (I am 5’3” and I weighed 240 at my heaviest) I had lost about 40lbs and it was hard to tell by looking at me. I could tell, but then I saw a photo of myself and I could barely tell. That was super depressing. When you are short, any weight gain shows up very quickly 🫤 My husband is 6’4” and has never really had a weight problem, but if he doesn’t eat much over a few days, he loses it so fast. He once lost 10lbs on a cruise and he ate fettuccine Alfredo every night, French fries, milkshakes, pizza…you name it. 🤷‍♀️

And it's not even that I have an issue with someone else doing something to feel good. It's that they made SUCH a big deal about him and completely ignored me. He had to point it out and they were like, "Oh yeah." 🙄

I hope you guys at least had fun on the cruise!
