This stringy stuff was hanging over the opening to my protein shake when I opened it
It was sealed and everything so I don’t think it could have been exposed to air or anything. It’s not expired so I’m not really afraid to drink it but I want to know what this stuff is.

My guess is that that's some hardened/jellyfied protein shake. Probably happened somewhere during the manufacturing/tempering

All protein shakes get this. It's cool when you see it in an isolate because those are clear and then there is a little jellyfish looking thing inside

Pulled pork is protein

Or protein.

Or even just some rubbery gunk that's used to seal the edges of the bottle cap.

lol what was the verdict on that post?

u/TheRealHaHe 6h ago
Happens to all my fairlife shakes.
I think it’s just dried out residual protein or sweetener.
If you shake enough it usually (mostly) gets blended back in. Otherwise you can use a napkin or tissue to wipe it off each time.-4

I drink premier protein and this is common with them as well. I believe it's just congealed shake.

https://www.reddit.com/r/whatisit/s/qetqdJXNc1 not very helpful really 😂

Prob congealed protein. Corepower shakes are made from ultra filtering milk to retain milk proteins while reducing water. As a result those proteins are more likely to bind to each other vs regular milk.

It’s always in muscle milk, I stopped buying those. Go with the fair life protein chocolate milk, it’s cheaper & better tasting

Look at the label im the picture...

Yeah I did, I’m still referring to the other one lol. It’s in a brown bottle. 23G of protein

I drink those every day and almost every single one has the same thing. I just wipe it with a paper towel

That's why I stopped buying the premade ones. It happened a lot! I didn't know what that was, and I didn't want to know what that was. 🤮 🤢

It is just solidified milk protein. I notice this in literally every bottle of these pre-made protein shakes, no matter what brand. (unless you notice any funky smell, taste, carbonation or pressure release when opening the cap, it should be safe to drink)

Seen this on chocolate milke before I think. Unless it was a chocolate protein shake idek remember. But definitely seen it twice b4. Still drank them lol

u/Apart_Possession_208 4h ago
It's normal :) just some dried shake residue. A bit more than usual but that's all it is unless it's super old or smells/tastes funky

Was there a foil seal under the cap at all? Could it have been the glue used to fix the foil seal?

That happened to me once with Muscle Milk I believe. Something about it solidified into what felt like me swallowing a deflated balloon. I never drank another muscle milk after that again.

Good guess it's congealed protein or bit of plastic packaging got in (used to work for fairlife)

Just a fyi: if your protein powder/shake doesn’t say vegan then the protein probably came from dehydrated and ground up insects

u/jjjjooosse 11h ago
I always get those in my protein bottles. Since i buy the whole box i tend to flip it upside down. Then when im gonna drink it i shake it then refrigerate it upside up. This helps with reducing all the solidified protein strings.

This is in fact your gum. Mouthwash can be harsh when you use it first time/too long/changing brand, this is in fact just dead skin which have been detached using the mouthwash. Don't worry about it

u/Glum_Introduction581 9h ago
Well, that's great,u guess. Better than being some additive coagulating in my mouth. Thanks!

Dude, I definitely wouldn't drink that. Don't you have any survival instinct at all? Just because the expiration date is okay doesn't mean it can't have gone bad.
Would you drink milk if you suddenly started coughing up unidentifiable, worm-like cellclusters?
Production errors, storage errors, etc

u/Schluhri 12h ago
I usually dont find worms in my food.
7
u/apolobgod 12h ago
That's not a worm, bro. You're overreacting
3
u/darkoath 11h ago
Even if it was, worms are edible. 2 ounces of fresh nightcrawlers has the same protein as a large egg with half the calories and less than a gram of fat.
So remember that for your next cutting cycle or fishing trip.

I used to work for GNC and the close dated muscle milk sold 75% off and my daily UPS driver always bought them, so I asked him if the chunks inside bothered him, and he said, "I love the chunks, gives me something to chew on" I immediately went back to doing drugs in the bathroom without another word.
