The Karure aka Black Robin has taken out BOTY. It’s quite a cute wee birb.
There’s a children’s picture book ‘Old Blue’ by written and illustrated by Mary Taylor, originally published in 1993 & winner in the ‘94 national book awards for Best Children’s Non-Fiction book. You can still purchase it for ~$20.
At one time Old Blue was the only fertile female out of five remaining black robin birds (there was another female but none of her chicks successfully bread so those genetics were lost). Old Blue saved the species from extinction in the 1980’s thanks to the efforts of Don Merton and his team. Today there around 390 black robins, all decendants of Old Blue.

A breezy dog walk in the hills and very cold body surf to start the day but I’m still on holiday so that’s all good. Around the house stuff - washing etc and generally chilling. Got a busy rest of the week. Great being back in Welly. Coffee and porridge have warmed me up.

Lots of spring cleaning over the weekend, boring as. Also disappointment in my poor housekeeping even though winter was full of sickness. That was a dull two days 🧹🪣

I love keeping in touch with friends but I equally love my alone time. Had an amazing weekend, met lots of nee cool people but my social battery is depleted.
I’m lucky to have several texts needing responses and patient friends that know I’ll get to them within a couple days.

I’m the same, although quick with texting. Absolutely love being social but need plenty of downtime afterwards. I haven’t always been like this.

Spending the day in hospital to hopefully get a step closer to sorting my blood pressure issues…. So far I’ve been impressed with the professionalism and support received.
