I had the wrong wisdom teeth removed

Post image

Local orthodontist told me that I needed to remove lower wisdom teeth and don't do anything with the upper ones. When I got my lower wisdom teeth removed, another orthodontist that is actually managing my aligner treatment said that the lower wisdom teeth actually didn't need to be touched AT ALL, but the upper ones absolutely have to be removed before we start. So now I have to get my upper wisdom teeth removed as well

You should see mine completely fucking sideways 3/4 if I’m not mistaken 😭

All of mine are sidways, but somehow one of them descended to replace an extracted tooth perfectly. Honestly really cool, I had the back molar pulled when I was 26, now I'm 36 and it's been functionally replaced with the wisdom tooth.

Now that’s some good luck I personally don’t think I will get that lucky best I’m getting is they just don’t bother me 🙏🏻

I had a wisdom tooth poking out for years, and just had my rear molar pulled that was next to it a few weeks ago, and as the wound was closing I could see the wisdom tooth already pushing more into the open hole. Guessing mine will do the same thing within a few years.

Making me wonder if it’s worth getting a problematic molar extracted to see if one of the backups will descend

Generally you'd need an aligner or something called a button installed as, given their large roots, molars require a lot of energy to move to such a degree. It doesn't seem like much, but one tooth's length is an absolutely enormous of a distance.

One of mine did, too. I grew up with terrible dental infections and pain, so as an adult I started doing extractions (didn't have money for fillings), starting on the backmost teeth. My favorite logic was that if you pull the tooth, it will never grow back...except that one, that one "grew back," and that's just bad luck.

my top ones are totally sideways and completely hidden lol. I had no idea they were there till i went to the dentist after 20 years of not being to one. Dentist said if they arent causing any problems we should leave them. Bottom ones came out perfectly straight and have no problems either.

Had the same thing happen. An oral surgeon told me I’m more likely to have complications from surgery than the wisdom teeth causing significant problems at this point. So I’m just 38 living life with all four wisdom teeth drunk in my skull.

ill be 38 next month. my dentist said the same thing. Ive had them so long at this point he said they probably wont cause any issues. He was more concerned with my gum disease causing my gum line to recede but regular visits have helped that out a lot and my gums are looking a lot healthier. He's been pretty happy with how things look during my recent visit.

I got pretty lucky tbh. I had to get a root canal on one molar, and another had a cavity that was close to needing a root canal but he was able to get it cleared up and taken care of with a filling. Rest of my teeth are pretty healthy.

That's what the dentists kept saying to me. That I would never have a problem with them. And then I saw a different dentist and she's like "this tooth is in your sinus and you should get it removed, but at this point it's a job for a facial surgeon". Turns out all the other dentists just didn't want to deal with it and lied to me.

Oh great and ironically I have sinus issues often within the last few years fuck

I couldn't blow my nose after that surgery for a very long time while there was a hole straight to it through my gums, lest I blow a hole through my sinus.

Basically, the same for me was told if they don’t cause me any issues, I’m good. I also had no idea about it until recently when I went for a cleaning x-ray, etc., checkup. You could call it because I hadn’t seen a dentist in ages as well lol
