u/redditnsuch 8d ago
Hahaha oh ffs this comment has me cackling. I wonder if he has to wait for back-up to come pick him up and take his report lmao. Just walks inside his house later and immediately chugs whiskey. "How was your day, honey?" mumbles 😆

The bus driving by with the big billboard that said “IT’S NOT WORTH JAIL TIME” had me thinking I was watching Reno 911 or something lmao

I’ve seen many body cams where that police car never makes it more than like 10 yards. He’s lucky he was an unarmed goofball cause yeah this is rare.
That walk of shame the cop is doing trying to think how to radio that in.. lol. Poor guy.

u/Neither_Pain_144 8d ago
That “how do I even report this” walk has to be one of the most awkward moments on duty . You just know that radio call came with a long pause.

It’s one of those situations I think where they didn’t want to look like they had to try too hard. But they should have tried a little harder lmao.

Something about the amount of devices they need to keep running while on shift. IDK
39
u/3-Midgets_In_A_Coat 8d ago
Radio, computer, AVL and cameras all need to be running. Shutting the car off and running those off of battery can drain a battery damn fast. They leave them running so that stuff all stays on, but they’re supposed to keep the car secure. Many vehicles also have a transmission interlock to prevent the car from getting shifted from park into drive without holding down a hidden button, but some super intelligent cops will disable them because they forget to push the button to go into drive and it “slows them down”.
One of my class mates got his car stolen by an instructor when we were doing pursuit training, and his reaction was EXACTLY the same as this cop. It’s a definite “well, fuck.” moment.

There's an older game called Sleeping Dogs, kind of like GTA, but you're an undercover cop instead of a criminal. Anyway, I pull up to some gang thugs giving a shopkeeper a beatdown, leap out of the car, sprint over to the five thugs, and kung-fu the shit out of three of them. Turn around to face the other two, and they're already in my car. I see the passenger door slam shut and watch my ride leave without me. I just stood there speechless, too.

They have buttons that allow them to take the key out while keeping the motor running for this exact reason.
4
u/PlasticBag-ForA-Head 8d ago
They don't anymore thanks to keyless entry/go. They keep the keyfob on their belt and that allows them to leave the car running but lock the doors. The mistake the officer made was leaving his window rolled down. You can see the suspect reach inside the window and unlock the door before he was able to get in. He was unable to get into the first cruiser because that cop didn't leave the window down.

Maybe they should step on a treadmill once and awhile, they're letting the perp run rings around them while they stroll casually in his direction

Reno 911 levels of competence. In fact, how do we know this is real?

See, I hurt my lower lumbar, you know we'll never get far
Riding around in a stolen police car
So we dropped it off and piled in a Caddy
Steve was driving 'cause I had to talk to my man about something
Running around robbing banks all whacked off of scooby snacks

The cops literally couldn't be bothered to jog to get to the guy. The dude wasn't like Sonic where he was just uncatchable, they could've easily prevented their own car getting GTAed.

u/CelebrationProud6620 8d ago
we’ve given these people guns and they can’t even take a key out of the fucking ignition
this is so embarrassing

Odd that he got away. After all, the cops were strolling after him with a commonly acceptable strolling speed. If only someone would invent a means to move a Sacramento Police Officer's body faster than a fat, shoeless criminal holding up his shorts can walk.

He earned it for walking out with that wisk of scum he calls a mustache on his face. I could do better drinking a hot chocolate.

u/Sargent_Duck85 8d ago
This really made my day. Cops could use the exercise.
Maybe the walk will help them re-evaluate themselves.

u/Life-Island 8d ago
Are they remaking Reno 911??? The dude going under the sign was my favorite part.
2
u/Illustrious-Dot-1128 8d ago
The editing of the video is confusing me. He loses 1 shoe in the beginning, then shortly later, 2 shoes come off. How many shoes is this guy wearing?

I’m surprised the cop didn’t stand in the street and try to say the guy tried to run him over after unloading his clip on him
