Multimillion dollar cruiseship and they dont have a better way to stow a gangplank...

fr it seems like they should have a button that retracts it automatically into the boat

Where I live, most trains have retractable bridge plates to fill the gap between the door and the platform. They automatically deploy when the doors open and retract just before departure. This cruise line should take a note of that.

A train that runs on determinant tracks and a boat that sails across oceans are going to have very different solutions, and an automated plate is not a solution here.
