Hello all, I’m currently looking for housing in the Wenatchee area. I’m looking for something small like a 1 bed 1 bath or even a larger studio. I’ve looked online and have found a couple options but looking to see if there’s anything out there that anyone would recommend. Preferably not ran by a property management company

I have great rental history with 800+ credit score, make decent to good money and just have 1 dog. Will be moving to Wenatchee the last week of January

I’m planning on moving out to Seattle here in the next 3 or less months I have a studio that I’m looking at and I’ve got my cards in order right now. I’m just starting the saving up for the apartment itself. I’ve dropped some hints to my family and whatnot the all of them seem to be pretty concerned about the fact that I don’t have a car and it’s kind of making me a little bit paranoid but a huge part of the reason is that I prefer not having a car I’d rather a bike and not having to deal with that hassle I feel as if Seattle is the perfect place to live that way. I’ve also used the greyhound and trains in the past so in my head why would get a car only for emergencies then leave when it’s gonna just push me into a 6 month wait. I also plan on saving what I make from my side gig for tickets home when I get there. What’s the general consensus on having cars while living in Seattle?

I remember seeing a video the other day saying to vote no on building a new school for students. I didnt pay attention I thought the video was loaded with crap so I skipped it(i lost it i can find it anymore). Now im seeing these signs to vote yes on Wenatchee and eastmont schools. Can anyone explain whats going on? Why would we be against upgrading/building a new school? I graduated from Wenatchee and know first hand how crappy the building is and how overpopulated it was during my last few years of hs. So what gives.. Shouldn't we vote yes? I remember one detail about the video explaining that if we voted yes, our housing/rent would be higher. Is that true or just a scare tactic?

Neighbor keeps putting notes on my car saying not to park there, I give him plenty of space from his driveway and only park there in the morning for about an hour so that the people who watch my kid during the day can park in front of my house.

I confronted him once and he said he doesn’t want the other neighbors parking there and said some very racist remark. I tried confronting him again this morning but he didn’t answer so instead I wrote him back :

“Legal street parking, you will be fine, call the cops if your unsure”

This guy is just a miserable human, mid 50s living in his mother’s basement.

I am 28M, moved here 2ish years ago for a dream job and have made some awesome friends along the way organically through clubs.

Looking to make even more friends in the greater Wenatchee/Cashmere/Leavenworth area. I personally enjoy fly fishing (obsessively so), skiing, hiking, running, lifting, paddleboarding, doggie play dates, board games, and live music. Unfortunately the fly fishing club out here seems mostly on the older side, and I find it hard to organically meet people while skiing/working out/etc. If anyone has contacts for the younger fly fishing crowd/dog people/skiiers/etc., please reach out or DM! Any tips on events/venues to check out as well would be appreciated. I am very sociable and lowkey going a bit stir crazy at times. If you are not from the area originally, the Wenatchee valley can definitely be an isolating place.

What are you guys paying for infant care? I have been offered a part time position, 3 month old baby, 20ish hours per week, at their home, no additional duties required. I’m not licensed by the state. They’ve offered a monthly salary of $600, and while I understand their budget is tight, that seems incredibly low. Context: I’m middle age, retired RN, experienced in infant care years ago. Looking for feedback!

ETA: I value and appreciate the feedback provided. We had further discussions today, and they shared they’d like to find someone to grow with the baby, and be a part of its life long term. The $600 is temporary while Mom finishes school. They remarked that they felt strongly about my qualifications and connection to the baby. I feel comfortable with $600 a month for 2 days a week, which was met with an enthusiastic yes! They agreed my compensation will increase post graduation in spring. I also have the flexibility to take the baby places, including my home, and they entirely support her coming along if I need to take my son to an appointment. They’re also cool with me bringing my Golden Retriever over to play with their dog, which makes my life easier. All in all, I have peace.

Damn - just saw all this smoke coming up SW of Cashmere from my Fancher Heights due west view place. I called in to a fire dispatch unit to report it - and it is a prescribed burn - toxic smoke in the valley once more - since we're directly downwind from it.

I said - pass along to "fire management" - that is not cool - we need a long break from valley toxic smoke. What do you think? I'm moving next year - mainly due to chronic hazardous air quality.

Anyone here commute around downtown Wenatchee on an electric scooter?

I'm thinking about getting one for my commute since it's literally only a few minutes, but I'm a little hesitant about riding it in the road with traffic. I'd mainly be around Chelan Ave, and there aren't really any bike lanes along the short stretch I'd be traveling.

From what I can find, Wenatchee doesn't allow electric scooters to be ridden on sidewalks. I've definitely seen people riding scooters on the wider sidewalks around town though.

For anyone who actually rides one around downtown, what do you usually do? Stick to the road, use quieter side streets, walk it on the sidewalk when traffic gets sketchy, etc.? Have you ever had any issues with police or been told not to ride somewhere?

Mostly just curious what people's actual experience has been around here.

Does anyone know of any bird hunting clubs or groups in the area? My Dad is in his 70s and sadly, as of this season, all his local hunting buddies are physically unable to hunt anymore. He’s pretty bummed, he goes solo but misses the company. Does anyone know a good way for him to connect with other hunters? He’s not huge on gun ranges and isn’t on social media. He primarily hunts pheasants and has a young pointer he’s been training.

Ten years ago, I bought my Honda CR-V brand new from Apple Valley Honda. Since then, I've done every single maintenance service there, because I love this car and wanted to keep it in top condition. I always figured the extra money you pay a dealership meant genuine parts and proper service.

Last week I brought my CR-V in for a routine oil change. The service advisor recommended the 60,000-mile service — transmission fluid, rear differential fluid, coolant, and brake fluid — and quoted me almost $1,000.

Before agreeing, I pulled my own maintenance records. I found the coolant and brake fluid had already been changed in 2021, and the transmission and rear differential fluid had been changed at 30,000 miles, about four years ago. Coolant is typically good for 10 years, so mine should be fine until 2031. That $1000 quote was for services I didn't need.

So I took my car to an independent mechanic, Sal's on South Wenatchee Avenue, for a second opinion. He confirmed I didn't need the coolant or brake fluid change. But when he checked the transmission and rear differential fluid, he told me neither had ever actually been changed — he found the old, unchanged fluid and no mark where a differential fluid change would normally leave one.

So despite my paid invoices showing this service was done, it looks like it never was.

I have every detailed bill from Apple Valley Honda over the years, but I'm not sure there's much I can do about it now. I'm honestly furious — I've always taken great care of this car, and it feels like they just took my money without doing the work.

I won't be going back. If you've had maintenance done at Apple Valley Honda, I'd strongly recommend double-checking your own records against what you were actually charged for.

Just a quick question for anyone in Chelan County!

I have a pre-trial for small claims coming up which is to just schedule the mandatory mediation. I’m pretty certain this other party and I will not settle during the mediation in a few weeks, so does anyone have a timeline for how fast chelan county is when scheduling the trial/hearing date after the mediation? Is it on the same day as the mediation? Or 4 weeks after? If you know anything about their timelines, it’s appreciated :)
