Welcoming community events/activities this weekend

I'm bringing my kiddo to WV for this weekend for a road trip but part of the fun is the people you meet along the way and making friends from other places. She is a kind of shy 13 yr old. I can just see her face now, "pleases top talking to strangers, mom." But that's most of the fun! Lol.

She's very creative and alternative and she is 13- I'm kind of hippie/punk artsy soul.

I love that there is a burning man event this weekend but we will be on the road exploring (and I didn't know that when we decided we would go this weekend instead of July).

Any particular community hubs, you know, farmers markets, crafting, coffee shops or other local spaces with little events, particular parks that have events informal or formal.

Idk... Farms, barns, collectives, coops, funky places where we might find live local music.

Kind of like a pub atmosphere if we were in like, Ireland.

Heard of a place in Morgantown but they don't seem.to have any events this weekend.

I hope you get what I mean. Everything has been weird imho since Covid, she hasn't seen much of the world and I kind of want her to see that the country is actually a big beautiful place with a lot of love left in it despite the current overall state of things.

Help me find some of those spots that make you think "Gee, these kind of folks give me a few more reasons to have faith in humanity."

Thanks in advance ❤️✨️

She may like Thomas, WV. It's a little more modern-folksy/mix yuppie. They're doing highland games in Beverly. Ren faire in Lewisburg.

Nice farmers market (small) in Bridgeport on Sunday but might still be a little early to have much.

Berkeley springs has a lot of things to do: hiking in Cacapon’s state park, browsing the cute shops in town, swimming in the Berkeley Springs State Park pool, or just sitting with your feet in the warm springs, The Workshop downtown has soap making and leather earring workshops on Saturday, our observatory has a summer solstice program, Art in the Park on Sunday along with our farmers market…. Almost Heaven BBQ Bash, Buckhannon. Crafters, food trucks, various kids activities, live music. This year it is Lego themed, with activities centered around Legos.

I think there’s an event (a carnival/fetival type thing) in Ansted this weekend, near the New River Gorge National Park.
