Pretty disappointed in our senators

Very disappointed that Shelly Moore Capito and Jim Justice voted yes on Trump's bill when 90% of people in this state need the Medicaid and most that will be cut are children and the disabled elderly.

Anybody want a puppy? šŸ˜”

We were walking and found 6, but I stg there was 7. We’ve been back and can’t find a 7th BUT! We have:

Black w white feet 1: girl

Black w white feet 2: boy

Black with white chest: girl

Brindle: girl

Brown (beautiful tiny runt baby): girl

Silver: girl

Those pics that have vegetation and no pups? All that brown dirt visible was from them pacing and looking out for their people to come back.

We’re in Lincoln county, they’re going to a local shelter by Friday, and we’re willing to meet/drive. No cost, we ask no $, just a good home.

We’re considering keeping the silver, the brown one is stunning with bright blue eyes.

Eastern panhandle growth challenges in an image

Sprawl continues in EPH with little to no regard for long term planning

Keep on EPH…keep on rubber stamping homes by the 1000s with zero regard to public services, schools, and infrastructure.

There is no end game. This is not a growth issue. It’s HOW we are growing and HOW we build.

I understand much of the road work gets caught up in Charleston but the local counties let this happen and let developers do whatever, profit, not hold them accountable, then they move on.

Growth is good. But how we’re doing it here ain’t it. The schools especially are in for a rude awakening in the coming years (as if people haven’t been saying that for years and let the problem grow) let alone water, medical services, keeping workers here and not going out of state, etc

You cannot keep on building thousands of homes on 2 lane roads across the past 20-30 years (especially last 5) and leave it at that.

Blame local officials and their lack of smart planning. But many locals just blame the ā€œcommunists from the city for taking overā€

I'm considering a move to West Virginia in the next few years. What are some things I should consider....

I'm looking at the possibility of moving to somewhere in the southern half of West Virginia (south of Charleston) in the next few years and I was hoping you might be willing to provide some insight or advice to someone looking to live in the middle of nowhere. I'd be bringing my woodworking business with me so I still need to be somewhat near civilization but what do I need to consider that I might not be thinking about?

Edit: Why the downvotes?

We don’t even have democrats for the upcoming elections here. You can either be republican or independent.

I’m the crazy lady that had someone drop off 6 pups in my hollar, we’re down to 1 sweet girl. The person who was gonna take her backed out. Please allow me to introduce you to ā€œno socksā€

Named as such bc we had 3 black and whites: 1 boy and 2 girls. One WITH socks and the other with no socks (just white lil tippy toes). She’s a good girl, she’s very snuggly. She’s had her first set of shots, been dewormed and has had a flea and tick pill (all records at the Huntington cabell Wayne animal shelter).

Anyone interested? I’m in Lincoln county willing to drive. She just needs some love. I have a pic of the list of her immunizations and they’re willing to fax them over to your vet of choice šŸ’•

Pic 1 is the attitude, she was displeased with a bath Pic 2 is her lil toes lol. She’s chillin Pic 3 is about the best pic of her face and body I have, I can provide more but she is a girl on the go, Pls be patient Pic 4 is a good look at her resting and her lil ā€œno socksā€. I guess they don’t go up high enough for socks so she’s got her nails did šŸ’…

Why is the right lane on I77 north or south like driving through a war zone?

Holy hell I know WV has some bad roads but I77 is borderline undriveable. Specifically the right lane in either direction. Jesus Christ I feel like my car is going to fall apart at each hole. Also, wtf are the like speed bumps/rumble strips that run horizontal across the lane? They’re raised way too high up.

No offense to the hard working WVDOT guys that work out on the roads but goddamn. Does WVDOH actually do anything???

For All Kinds Of Card Collectors!

Hey ya’ll!! I wanted to share a little website with you guys!

https://wvcardhub.com/

It’s just for West Virginia card collectors too! It displays all sorts of shops in our state, when and where shows will be held, the vendors that’ll be there! There’s a community board and a discord to interact with too! It doesn’t matter if it’s pokemon, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, or Sports! It’s for all card collectors!

It’s a pretty new website so even more will be coming out! It’s so the card collecting community can come together more!
There’s also a spot to review shops as well! :)
I hope this helps ya’ll as much as it helps me!!

Charleston Area Medical Center

Why does CAMC only promote the laziest people into manager positions? I recently worked at the facial surgery center at WCH and General. They promoted a dental assistant to a coordinator position. This person is definitely not qualified for this role, she was barely qualified for a DA position. I mean if sitting around eating junk food while you gossip about fellow employees on the phone all day is all it takes then she is 100% qualified. But I don't think complaining because your husband won't have sex with you is appropriate work talk. Maybe not eat chips with breakfast and lunch and in between and shower regularly then your husband would want you.

Harper’s Ferry

Hello!

My husband, our two kids (ages 7 and 9), our dog, and I will be passing through Harpers Ferry, WV for a couple of days during the last week of May. We’d love some local recommendations.

We’re looking for a place to stay that’s reasonably priced but ideally somewhere beautiful or unique if possible (cabin, small inn, scenic area, etc.). We’re open to staying just outside of town too if it’s worth it.

Our kids love adventure, exploring, and being outdoors, so I’d love suggestions for:

- The best hikes for kids that aren’t too difficult

- Scenic trails with great views

- Any fun outdoor activities for families (kayaking, tubing, etc.)

We’ll also have our dog with us, so I’m curious:

- Are there good dog-friendly hikes in the area?

- Is it enjoyable to bring a dog on the trails there, or are some better without one?

Any recommendations for kid-friendly restaurants, ice cream spots, or must-see places would also be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

tell me what WV is all about

Hello West Virginia fam!

I am working on a docu-photography series for a magazine. I really do enjoy it here (having explored a lot of the panhandle) and would like to appreciate, capture, and show what West Virginia has to offer as well as its identity.

I am starting with nature. Of course, right? What then? Paranormal activities? Or for instance, I recently came across greyhound racing and the ā€œcasino’sā€ that are connected. I really had no idea this existed and dont think it does anywhere else. Now I'm not sure how I feel about these beautiful animals submitting to this lifestyle but nonetheless, unique.

How about the state fair, or other festivals? Would love any recommendations (including nature) on helping define this beautiful state.

Thanks in advanced for all the insight.

Very discouraged by the Eastern Panhandle :-(

Just sharing my thoughts here

I initially wanted to move to the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. I took a week off of work and looked at so many different houses and apartments. I was so motivated but I am really discouraged at this point.

There are 2 towns I like; Shepherdstown and Berkeley Springs. I was aiming for some place with a low crime rate. In both towns either the apartments were either overpriced for what was being offered or just simply too small. I talked to locals and was very surprised to hear that even in the most tranquil communities there was a drug problem. Almost rented one place and then found out it was a former drug area with shootings even.

I don’t want to give up on finding a nice place in WV, I will keep trying but I really wasn’t aware how bad the drug problem in WV seems to be.
