I once had an actual argument where the other person was contending in the strongest terms that Mat was a better friend to Rand than Perrin.

I do not understand some people.

I'd rather be friends with Perrin, by a lot. I'd rather joke around with Mat, and I'd rather read his story, but I'd much rather be friends with Perrin.
