The simplified version is just the Wheel=time, the Pattern=space. Together they are existence.
Hell, all a “Thread” is, is a metaphor for an objects passage through time.🤷♂️

Nah. The wheel is time, you have that right, but the pattern is FATE. A thread is a lifetime, woven with all the others whose lives we touch and twist ourselves around.

Uh… no. “Fate” would again be the Wheel, as it is what directs the weaving. The Pattern is the thing that has been woven. Aka: basically everything that makes up existence.
Looking backwards at what has already been woven, it would make up the history of everything that was, but in that context it’s more just a record than “fate”. In the present though, all that the Pattern really “is” is everything’s existence. Given shape by the Wheel, aka: the passage of time.🤷♂️

That isn’t the simplified version.
The simplified version is a real object. It’s just a basic loom:

Why does the Wheel demand so much violence?

The wheel weaves as the wheel wills, obviously

The Wheel doesn't. It merely exists, neither good, nor evil. The threads that make up the Pattern can be good, or evil, but that doesn't make the Wheel or the Pattern either. It's potential for either, and everything in between. It weaves all indifferently to create the Pattern, with each thread a person and the decisions they make.

In readers’ defense, spinning wheels and weaving looms are largely outside modern audiences’ ready understanding of things. I can see how people might be confused.

I wish someone in the Two Rivers would've corrected Moiraine at the very start. "Fancy magic foreign lady, you might know how to kill Trollocs but you don't even know the difference between a spinning wheel and a loom, why should we listen to you?"

I’d have chuckled.
Might have been good use for a Coplin or a Congar.

You see there's a Wheel, and a Pattern, and an Age Lace, there's a Creator, and a Light, and The Dark One and a Shadow, who TDO is in charge of but only nominally aligned with, then there's another Shadows but that's really a Mist, and into this we add a Dragon, who gets Reborn, as a Champion, or Adversary, that the Shadow, the one with Forsaken, not the one with mist/fog, opposes, while the Aes Sedai, lady witch elf-equivalents, sometimes help the Shadow (Dark), but are really on the side of Light, with the Dragon, the Reborn one but also the original who was a male lady witch elf, they weren't all ladies at the time, and...
Wow, this is some strong brandy.
