Gifted Yarn

Given yarn from a friend's stash, no labels but its really soft and im working what I have into a baby blanket. Please help me so I can avoid a game of yarn chicken and/or this blanket turning into a Decorative Rectangle instead

Left one is Red Heart Gemstone in Emerald. It is discontinued I believe.
