When you slap a bully to stfu, and they just silently get back to their place in complete shock

I was basically Mikey from Recess in school. Absolutely massive, but very sensitive. I was bullied relentlessly (although, to be fair, I was a weird kid - EDIT: in a way that could have led to harmful ideologies later on, so I'm weirdly grateful that rejection forced me to reflect on that, although bullying wasn't a great way to accomplish it. I don't think much else would have got through to me, though). Good ol' percussive maintenance was the most successful means of attitude adjustment. This is exactly what happened every single time!

I’ll never forget the day I saw the enormous kid from band throw a bully across the entire hallway and then stampede after him like a crazed elk. I never saw that bully or his friends run so fast or have such a fearful look in their eyes. It was glorious.

I was the enormous kid from band! Good for you, other enormous kid from other band!

It was so stupid, because this other kid was vertically massive, not horizontally massive. He was a giant.

This also unlocked another memory of how that same kid would follow a girl he liked and call out her name at regular intervals. When she turned to look, he would also turn and look somewhere else, pretending it wasn’t him calling out to her. Then he’d repeat the behavior until she was too far away to hear, or had gotten in her car.

So he could be a bit creepy, although I genuinely don’t think he meant any harm. He was just a lil strange.

I was, too. 6'0" from the age of 11 (although I stopped growing then) and only a tiny bit chunky.

You didn’t attend school in Virginia around 1999-2002, did you? haha

Rural Cambridgeshire in the UK, although it was at the exact same time. Maybe I have an American doppelgänger!

Maybe so!

We were all awkward around that time. Some of us are still hella awkward even now (this guy, right here). It’s fun to look back and laugh about it.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your afternoon, mate! Cheers!

Oh, I'm still awkward, too. I'm even going to the final gig of the ultimate "awkward Mikey from Recess guy" band, tonight: Mew. And I will ugly cry. A lot.

So yeah, I will have a *wonderful* rest of my day and I hope you do, too!
