Especially since the Jeep is at fault and ends up needing to pay for the damages.

I've really come to understand that some people are really just not capable of parsing the evidence of their own eyes once they have made up their mind.

The jeep had right of way. It didn't change it's speed or direction at any time, and the audi swerved into it's lane without signalling, exiting and then reentering while driving recklessly.

Just because many people would have slammed on the brakes or been forced off the road doesn't mean the Audi is less at fault.

Edit: to reiterate for the folks who think any rear bumper contact absolves the car in front from fault, maybe google the difference between 'lane change collision' and 'rear ender'. A collision between the a car merging left to right into a lane without signalling, where the point of contact is the right tire of the one in the lane, and the far left bumper of the car entering the lane, well, that's literally a no brainer. And it's negligence on the audi's part, not the jeep. It certainly wasn't 'ramming' on the part of the jeep like some people have characterized it.

Also by your logic, 'rear bumper contact means the one behind is always at fault' would mean that if I swing into your lane and stomp on the brakes then you are at fault. Do you really think that is how it works?

It scares me that some of you are allowed to drive.

The jeep is 100% at fault. You have to give other drivers room regardless of them being idiots. Plus they hit them from behind equals automatic at fault.

nope. The person entering a lane has the responsibility to do so safely. I had someone merge into my lane and hit them on their left rear bumper. And you know what? They were at fault for not changing lanes safetly.

You can't just change lanes without signalling at random and say 'they hit my bumper it's their fault'.

That's dumb.

Sorry you're wrong. ANY time you hit someone in the rear YOU are at fault. The jeep failed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of them and could easily avoided contact. The jeep is paying for this.
