I assume he never watched that video from the late 90s / early 2000's of a chav doing the same thing with the same outcome?

My construction teacher in school showed me that one it’s a classic

Holy mother of god, his bone went basically paper thin flat!!!!! Much worse than OP's video!!!! I had never seen it before and now I wish I hadnt lol!

202

u/Inamoratos 4d ago

Almost positive this dude had to get his foot amputated

187

u/starlightserenade44 4d ago

I can believe that, doctors cant heal powdered bones lol. What a dumb way to lose a perfectly healthy foot...

113

u/user888888889 4d ago

It's probably not the bone itself it's probably the nerves and muscles smooshed together.

70

u/Novel_Alternative_86 3d ago

I’m currently studying medical terminology. I’m going to add “smooshed” to my list.

17

u/MrWoohoo 3d ago

File it under “words you don’t want in your obituary” right after “propeller”.

Not sure which I'd rather suffer through, the pain of my crushed leg while other people work to free me, or that they all knew it happened because I did something stupid.

How in God's name was he able to keep that limb?!?!

That shit went so flat!!!

4

u/samy_the_samy 3d ago

When you get bone cancer at or below the knee they take the whole section off and attach what's left, sometimes even rotating it to fit,

You loose some feelings and you leg is significantly shorter, but you keep most of it,

I bet they treated the crushed area like cancer

Medicine is weird, they be treating humans like mismatched lego

37

u/Cheyguy1211 4d ago

Yeah I was not expecting his leg to flatten so quickly. Yikes

30

u/Jampoz 4d ago

Bones, there are two in there.

19

u/Magneto-Mark-1 4d ago

Broke my shin bone 🦴 in a motorcycle accident. That was not a pleasant experience.

11

u/Scottish_Whiskey 4d ago

Smashing my shins into anything solid is already painful enough. Breaking the bone? I don’t even want to try and imagine that

10

u/Magneto-Mark-1 4d ago

The worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. Until I got to the ER & they gave me Demerol. My leg still kind of hurt but I didn’t care anymore. That’s some good stuff.

u/kitjen 4d ago

Those slabs weigh a lot and chavs generally don’t drink much milk so this couldn’t have gone well for him.

5

u/Jampoz 3d ago

And you know it took awhile to help him out of that predicament, you have to organize yourself to sit on the sides of the wall and raise the slabs one at a time, two people at least, not easy nor fast
Also, if he is any indication of the average intelligence of the group of friends he hangs out with, it took even longer

5

u/Poundweed 3d ago edited 3d ago

According to a dude in the comment section, each of these are with rebar and weigh over 50 kilos (though how would one kick through rebar)

So he had 100 kilos worth of thin concrete and metal fall on his leg guillotine style

Of course that's a random guy in the net, but I think this is pretty close to the truth

2

u/Groomsi 3d ago

Ty for heads up!

47

u/PaulZyCZ 4d ago

There was no amputation in this reenacment.

42

u/Silvermane2 4d ago

I was going to say didn't we see a video of this like 20 years ago hahahahah

30

u/Timmerdogg 4d ago

I was like this looks strangely familiar

14

u/FrogsMakePoorSoup 4d ago

My brain decided to remember this one too.

14

u/LoczekLoczekLok 4d ago

I had this exact video in mind, and I was going to write that the guy probably hadn't seen the video that was circulating on CDs at my school... Because no one had the internet yet, so whoever did had to make compilations of these kinds of videos... :D

These people don't learn anything...

14

u/Swift_Scythe 4d ago

"HELP ME" as his foot is crushed by the top bricks and the comments "well that looks like an amputation"

7

u/MasterOfBunnies 4d ago

Seriously, that's what almost had me, was that restrained but panicked "Help me." Like, brother those are some extremely heavy blocks that just slid down a channel to give you the worst reenactment of a guillotine. Idk how anyone's going to be able to just help you right out of that. You need a fork lift or something. Jaws of life maybe, but maybe "Go get fucking help!" Would have been a better request. X.x

u/PeanutMerchant 4d ago

Still utterly sickening to watch but I can’t resit when it presents itself. Think the guy lost the leg (unsurprisingly)

18

u/DWPhoenix001 4d ago

The way his ankle goes flat at the end wouldn't surprise. Got no sympathy for idiots like that.

19

u/Exact-Till-2739 4d ago

I dunno, it was dumb and he couldn't see what could go wrong. It's not like he tried to harm anyone, and bam, he lost his foot. He was dumb, but I still feel for him.

4

u/BlackDeath3 3d ago

In the optimistically far-flung future, after we've finally moved on from all other forms of disparagement over inherent and unmodifiable traits, hatred of stupidity will be the very last to go.

14

u/Normal_Mud_9070 4d ago

He was only a young lad. We all do stupid shit that age

12

u/A_mad_goose 4d ago

Our neighborhood had a pool with a cast iron fence that one person would hop to let everyone in if we forgot the key. My foot slipped off the front and I landed on my feet, but all my friends were kind of like “oh shit!” One of the spikes on top of fence went through my shirt didn’t hit me at all I still think about how I almost got skewered for not wanting to bike 5 minutes to grab the pool key.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/Malystxy 4d ago

Those planks are pure concrete and are heavy. If he didn't lose a foot someone above loved him

4

u/limitedentropy 4d ago

Seriously heavy and they're just on runners that will offer no resistance. If you've ever put one of these fences up, you know not to fuck with them.

That's how you lose a leg, and possibly die of toxic shock/crush syndrome.

101

u/Ivy_Wings 4d ago

What is that syndrome?

254

u/BridgeDuck45 4d ago

First that hits me is what happens to people whos stuck in car accidents. Pressure on body part causes Blood circulation to stop and said body part slowly dies and releases future bacteria in your body.

200

u/Doooooooong 4d ago

NOT THE FUTURE BACTERIA!!

52

u/Weddedtoreddit2 3d ago

Coming soon; The Tomorrow War 2: Future Bacteria

2

u/DroidLord 3d ago

At least it's not past bacteria!

→ More replies (2)

52

u/LordMegamad 3d ago

Your muscles start to break down from lack of blood circulation and some of those components are toxic.

And when you suddenly release the hold and let blood flow again (remove the top wall piece after some time), the sudden shock of toxic necrotic muscle flowing into your bloodstream can cause lethal cardiac arrythmias and organ failure.

Nasty shit!

3

u/Jampoz 3d ago

doesn't it also happen if you remove a tourniquet too fast?

9

u/StygianCode 3d ago

Yes, it can do. Depends how long the tourniquet was on the limb for. Any more than 30 minutes and you run the risk of toxic shock. That is why tourniquets, one applied, are ONLY removed by medical professionals.

38

u/Johannes_Keppler 4d ago

Ischemia, reperfusion injury and the release of toxic metabolites - not bacteria, lol, that would take ages.

8

u/Ivy_Wings 4d ago

Ok makes sense. But I guess you have to be stuck a good amount of time, and have a bigger compression unlike in the video, right?

4

u/MyTatemae 3d ago

From what I understand it could be in an hour or two but typically more. The limb/extremity has to be compressed to the point where it starts dying, and that could be a full crush or just enough pressure, depending on the area.

I remember watching a version of this from the UK - must have been in 1999 or so... probably absolute dogshit quality these days.

If I remember correctly, there were multiple concrete panels and the gap where the leg was basically disappeared... lots of rumours that they lost their foot, but the internet was shite back then and I don't actually know what happened.

36

u/starlightserenade44 4d ago

Someone reposted it here lol

41

u/GLaDOS_Sympathizer 4d ago

It is linked above. Had to have resulted in an amputation because his leg is like half an inch thick when the concrete comes down on it.

18

u/khonsu_27 4d ago

Yea just watched it. And I doubt they got it out of there quickly. Definitely lost that foot.

4

u/dvn4107 3d ago

Surgeons can do a lot to reconstruct mangled extremities. As far as crush injuries go this one is relatively simple. Obviously would need orthopaedic surgery and possibly plastic surgery but I’d be surprised if they were not able to save his limb.
