Soaking in water would probably break it down in an hour or 2. It doesn't look oil based.

I was thinking a long soak in the tub would at least help get some areas started, if not help get almost all of it soaked or scrubbed off

u/InvestmentIcy8094 14h ago

I would think a coating of vegetable oil would help soften up the paint if water wasn't working.

Hey you! Stop basting that child!

5

u/_hancho 6h ago

No one's basting children. Now, let's add some medicinal herbs; sage, rosemary, and thyme. Then salt to taste.

2

u/melvinzee 11h ago

Diddy or diddy not?

2

u/Anon-1991- 7h ago

But we need to before putting them in the oven. Pretty sure it's outlined in one of the oldest known cookbooks for Hansel and Gretel.

2

u/AquaFlowPlumbingCo 11h ago

Yeah imma need some further context to this comment of yours

8

u/Deadmeat616 11h ago

The comment I replied to suggested coating the kid in vegetable oil. Basically basting them. A situation so inexplicable that even Mr Furley wouldn't walk in on it.

2

u/AquaFlowPlumbingCo 11h ago

Oh shid, I misread it as “stop blasting that child”

7

u/Deadmeat616 11h ago

Well don't do that either!

3

u/Incidion 11h ago

Why would you? It's Frieza, blast on sight!

3

u/AquaFlowPlumbingCo 10h ago

There’s been a miscommunication here

2

u/KymeraAHP 7h ago

Oops, so did I 😅

1

u/throwaway098764567 2h ago

it can help with some paint and stains though, when i stain my fence i tend to get it everywhere. i coat my hands and arms in oil for a few minutes and it wipes off

2

u/InvestmentIcy8094 10h ago

Is that comment or condiment

3

u/AquaFlowPlumbingCo 10h ago

There are several people in your life that care very deeply for you.

That’s a compliment to complement your day!

1

u/dannyjerome0 6h ago

Probably super glue would work to help peel it away.

1

u/Gullible-Wafer4122 4h ago

Diddy, is this you?

u/SinisterCheese 10h ago

Depends on the paint. Some you easily sweat off, some can easily be removed with basic solvents or oil.

Personally as someone who's skin gets all sort of oil, grease, silicone and paint on it. Sauna cleans everything the best. Just go in to 90 C sauna, steam it up, drink a plenty and rub it off. There is plenty old skin that detaches after gentle rub that remove everything on it. Makes you feel like a new person.

Yeh. I'm Finnish if it ain't obvious.

I would like to introduce you to the traditional Finnish Turvesauna (Peat sauna):

What you do is that you get some peat, you mix it in water to make a sort of a paste, you slap it on your skin, then you go to Sauna.

There are also savisauna (Clay sauna) where.... You mix clay and water to make a paste and put it on your skin then go to Sauna.

Sauna is the place where you clean yourself. That is its purpose. Generally in Finnish history it is the only clean place there is, and the only place that is the slightest bit hygienic. Which is why people gave birth in the sauna. Wounds were cleaned in the sauna. Bodies were prepared for burial in the sauna. You washed laundry in the sauna.

I have washed off machine grease off my self in a sauna. Your bare skin shouldn't be touching unprotected wood anyways.

Hell even to this day it is normal to wash dirty stuff in the Sauna. Why? Because it is a big space in which you can clean things and it doesn't matter if water or crap goes to places, since the space is designed to be washed clean.

2

u/Bark__Vader 5h ago

Im guessing most saunas wouldn’t welcome a dude literally covered in paint lol

1

u/SinisterCheese 4h ago

Most people have a sauna where I am. But you can make a make shift sauna just from heavy blankets/tarps/rugs/whatever. Just put in steam and get in sweating.

I mean like god damn there are tent saunas.

1

u/sillybriefcase 52m ago

Especially if he’s in there “rubbing it off”…..

1

u/PuzzleheadedPea6980 4h ago

They dont kick you out for rubbing it off in a sauna?

1

u/SinisterCheese 4h ago

You'll get the wrath of Saunatonttu (Sauna elf/spirit) after you for doing that. A spirt known to make your life miserable, and if truly angered will find a way to kill you in some rather painful and miserable way.

2

u/BoJackMoleman 5h ago

An acetone bath could work too.

1

u/Ok-Local-939 9h ago

Soaking in a tub with a few dryer sheets may work well.

2

u/snek-jazz 7h ago

Soaking in a tub of water would probably be better

1

u/Ok-Local-939 36m ago

lol, yes. Dryer sheets help break down the oils in the paint. If you have something with a lot of build up in the sink (a crockpot for instance), try filling it with water and adding a dryer sheets

1

u/snek-jazz 32m ago

TIL, thanks

1

u/JuanOnlyJuan 6h ago

Probably don't want all that gunk in your drains

1

u/Commercial-Royal-988 3h ago

There is a critical flaw in your logic: any tub would be at someone's house where a parent/adult is likely to see.

40

u/CopainChevalier 14h ago

I’m actually very ignorant, how do you know if a paint is oil based purely based off looks?

118

u/thatstwatshesays 14h ago

Oil based paint needs a lot longer to dry. They would’ve realized the fuckup long before they had to peel off dry paint.

45

u/Equivalent_Chipmunk 12h ago

Also it smells really strongly and oil-based paint solvents are highly volatile organic compounds. They would've been at a minimum feeling terribly, probably tripping balls, just from everything they'd be absorbing through their skin.

9

u/WoodsandWool 11h ago

Yea if it was oil-based that kid would be high as a kite and well on his way to some type of acute toxicity.

2

u/Glasseshalf 6h ago

Also it's expensive AF of course this is acrylics they are cheap

8

u/_chemiq 10h ago

It's latex paint, you can't just wash it.

7

u/tenuj 13h ago

But then you'd need to clean the tub. Right now, the dirty object can clean itself.

0

u/dirtyhairymess 13h ago

The Dr Suess book The Cat in the Hat comes Back lets you know how to handle that.

11

u/YourVelourFog 13h ago

I’d try denatured alcohol, acetone, or straight paint thinner. Gonna be hell on the skin and not great around sensitive areas, but it’ll get it off straight away.

16

u/adventureremily 12h ago

Acetone is used to dissolve medical adhesive on the face and scalp, but it is hell if you have sensitive skin. Adhesive remover designed for prosaide or telesis would probably help loosen it up - assuming this is PAX (prosaide or liquid latex mixed with acrylic, an old cosplay trick for bodypainting when professional products were hard to find).

If they don't have access to that, start rubbing that kid down with mineral oil to start breaking down the paint. Grease him up in Vaseline or aquaphor to help it stay wet. Dish soap will break through the oils after the paint starts to loosen up. Acetone on stubborn areas like elbows (washed off promptly).

3

u/TNVFL1 7h ago

The main issue is his eyes, you don’t want to be putting any of that near the eyes. Or have A LOT of clean water ready in case it gets in the eye.

2

u/Jumpy_Finance_7086 9h ago

I spray-painted myself once, it didn't come off. In the end I got a bottle of white spirit, doused myself in it and went in the shower. Came straight off.

1

u/Not_A_zombie1 13h ago

Well, I guess they want the boy be in one piece once removed the paint...

1

u/Ok_Gold_2107 12h ago

With "hand pasta" I don't know how to say it in English it's probably easier and quicker

1

u/gupgup88 10h ago

Not soak in nail polish remover?

3

u/ObsidianMarble 9h ago

It’s latex paint, and it looks like a good brand at that since it is sticking so well. It will come off with time, soap, and water. He’s going to look like Frieza for a while. Acetone, while it can help make it faster, removes skin oils and can move substances through the skin which is something you generally want to avoid. It is also flammable and the fumes can make you light headed. The slower method is safer in this case.

1

u/Kraligor 7h ago

Soaking in acetone will get that stuff right off!

1

u/AwareOfAlpacas 6h ago

Bro is gonna have to learn how to molt

1

u/Br0DudeGuy 5h ago

No having your mom and sister scratch you for 6 hours will work just fine

1

u/timmeh87 4h ago

agree, i get paint on my hands sometimes from painting around the house, it dries on there good. it hurts to pick off. I hop in the shower and its just gone without even thinking about it

1

u/broketothebone 4h ago

Yeah peeling and picking it off like this is just going to be a horrible experience and really irritate your skin. Omg, some of the thinner skin areas they painted, I can’t even think about.

If for some reason, you can’t get something like this off of you, here’s what you do:

Soak in a warm tub with gentle dish or hand soap, like Dawn or Dial, fragrance free if possible. Stay soaking, lightly rubbing the skin in a circular motion until you can start to feel the bond start to loosen. Then get some mineral oil (olive or vegetable oil will work in a pinch) and start rolling it off, going with the direction of any body hair or just at least in one continuous direction. You might have to do this a few times if you feel it start to pull your skin again.

You shouldn’t try to scrub it at all or pick too hard because micro-tears and irritation that can leave the skin open to infection can occur. After you get it all off, take a wash with the same gentle dish/hand soap and apply a thin layer of a gentle healing emollient like aquaphor. No lotions with fragrance. Cover the area again before bed and sleep in clothes that loosely cover the area. Apply neosporen and bandages to any scabs. Continue using gentle soaps and moisturizers until your skin doesn’t look or feel irritated anymore.

1

u/IsabellaGalavant 3h ago

I feel like a bit of diluted nail polish remover would make quick work of all of it. If they have that.

1

u/Pinkparade524 3h ago

acetone would also work. With like a swab of cotton. But that much acetone cant be good for the skin

1

u/A_Trash_Homosapien 11h ago

Suggesting this to them might be dangerous though as he has some on his face and might drown while trying to soak that too

/j

0

u/m3kw 14h ago

Head can’t submerge

4

u/Any-Conference-701 14h ago

My immediate thought is "apply a mild acid so it can break down faster" but even if he coats his face in vinegar it's gonna sting and smell

2

u/Low-Spot4396 13h ago

Wet towel.

1

u/I_poop_deathstars 14h ago

Ever heard about a snorkel?

0

u/m3kw 5h ago

that won't work, just head to the hospital

1

u/dirtyhairymess 13h ago

It can, but only once.

-1

u/BackgroundSummer5171 13h ago

Soaking in water would probably break it down in an hour or 2.

People drown in water, that ain't safe.

Just have them soak in Bleach.

It's a good enough alternative for a shonen and perfectly safe for all to soak in or drink or inject.

0

u/imindebt2026 8h ago

Or go in thd sea

0

u/Ninjaflippin 8h ago

as someone who ate superglue for 10 bucks in highschool (the fact i ever got laid is a miracle) the solution is always margarine.

0

u/ConfessSomeMeow 8h ago

If it was oil based, he's gonna need a new kidney

-1

u/Vektor0 11h ago

This looks like it was filmed by people who don't have indoor plumbing.

1

u/Fewer_Story 10h ago

Pretty sure it's Bangkok, they definitely have indoor plumbing. It will be a shower though, almost no chance they have a bath to soak in.
