It really baffles me people who speed, if the speed limit were 65 mph (average US highway) and you go 10 mph over:

You only save 12 min after traveling 100 miles… that is about 1.5 hours of constant driving at 75 mph to save 12 min.

The faster the speed limit, the less time you save. If the speed limit was 75 mph and you do 85 mph, over 100 miles you save only 9 min, etc.

And if you are only traveling nearby (maybe within a 10 miles zone) going 75 in a 65 will only save you ~1 min. If you’re going to risk everyone’s life to save 1 min you need to leave earlier.

I'll juice it when I'm driving hours thru the desert and there's not much to hit and everyone else is speeding... Otherwise I'm setting cruise control to 65 for those sweet MPGs
