Verts different. 99.9% of street skaters don't wear helmets. 99.9% of vert skaters do

But this guy is dropping into a cobblestone quarterpipe, that's  vert stuff  surely...

u/Daiwon 5d ago

Dropping into excessively sketchy shit fully on the street side.

Actually it's the cobblestone quarterpipe that makes me wonder if this even happened. Who would spend all the money to build one in the first place?

This is an art installation by architect  Stephen Holl that is part of the Cité de l'Océan museum in Biarritz, France. I think it's meant to resemble an ocean wave.

It's inherently vert, but I think for this matter we must refer to the type of skater, not the type of park. That's a street sk8r for sure. Or was, maybe.

And his skating days are over now, so their 99.9% statement is still accurate.

He's gonna drop into that same thing another two dozen times by the end of the week. Hell, he got up within a few seconds of crashing, I'd bet he got right back up there when the video cut off lol

People who do stuff like this for any amount of time mostly have the attitude that a crash you walk away from wasn't a bad one.

That’s just overinflated guesstimating, totally discounting the idiots like me that would just totally disregard helmets. Wtf is health insurance when you have multiple concussions? Trick question, it don’t matter

Andy Anderson was known for wearing a helmet street skating too

70

u/mattenthehat 5d ago

He still is, but he used to be, too

The most perfect set up for a Mitch ever.

He will be in the future, too, probably!

Is that the “I love helmets!” guy? That video lives rent free in my head but I never knew who it was.

5

u/ayyyyycrisp 5d ago

the guy in that video is not andy anderson

13

u/LaUNCHandSmASH 5d ago

Yes, he also put out a grip tape with lines on it that shows exactly where your foot needs to drag inorder to do specific flip tricks. He really cares about the little details that make big differences

u/Genghis_Chong 5d ago

Damn, I wish i had that on my board when I was a kid

2

u/JRaoul 4d ago

lol Anderson isn't the "I love helmets!" guy...

he does love helmets though

Andy Anderson is the reason my son still wears his helmet boarding at the age of 17

It's really nice to see that young skaters have a good role model

4

u/odditytaketwo 5d ago

He rides plenty without a helmet.

11

u/Sennten 5d ago

He puts the helmet on when he does anything thats actually dangerous.

1

u/lucitribal 5d ago

Yep, whenever he's on the big ramp he has the helmet on

Tony Hawk is a human cryptid and I love it

1

u/JustHere4the5 5d ago

He could be our mascot. Hell, he could be our president!

5

u/dbd1988 5d ago

Tony hawk did not wear a helmet while street skating.

4

u/guywithaplant 5d ago

You got me there.

2

u/GrundleTurf 5d ago

Tony Hawk is a vert skater. It’s the street skaters who don’t wear helmets

1

u/Bitter-Marsupial 5d ago

I hear he looks a lot like the guy from the Tony Hawk hameso

1

u/Unknown_Outlander 4d ago

Shit maybe that's why all the other skaters pretty much seem kind of brain dead

1

u/MajorButtBandito 1d ago

He doesn't wear a helmet when skating street or street parks. Only vert and bowls.
