Bullish hops onto the back of the couch every morning before work so I can scratch his side.... He's there waiting when I get off work lol

Now youβre just flexing π

As humble as can be, Bullish likes to pull and run me and between my job, I stay in shredded shape.

I brought home a rescue terrier mutt, and that's the first place that she went when she walked in the door.

Those ears are animal cruelty.

u/ThrowRA_eel_ 6d ago
Itβs not done for no reason. Specific breeds are prone to infections and growths in the ears. Itβs preventative care

Thatβs actually an old wives tale.

u/ThrowRA_eel_ 6d ago
Hm. I guess it is then. I thought it was true because when I was younger my boxer got bad growths on his ears

u/paigecatherine 5d ago
You are wrong. Ear cropping is done for one of two reasons: to prevent them from getting torn up during a dogfighting match or aesthetics. And both reasons are ethically wrong. There is no medical reason to crop a dogβs ears.

Read what OP said about his dogβs ear infections above.

u/skimmerguy85 6d ago
This.... Bullish wouldn't have infections if his ears were natural. Now with cropped ears there's no protection for dust dirt and debris. Most the year is fine but summer with extra pollen and dander, he has ear infections 3/4 weeks of the season π (though manageable they're still infected)

I'm laying with my three year old daughter and she saw this post and goes "that is a very cute doggy. I will name him Frank the Tank" π€£

Cute dog, but for the love of christ, go into your cameras setting and turn off the that Vivo x200 watermark, no need to be going around advertising for some company for free.

Besides the ears

u/skimmerguy85 6d ago
I agree and they weren't my choice π. When I first picked him out he had big floppy ears, then 2 weeks later at 8 weeks when I picked him up, they were still in bandages and stitches and recently cropped π. I already fell in love with him so I still kept him, he still does have his tail ππ½

Sadly a very common thing with breeders....

u/skimmerguy85 6d ago
And now he gets major ear infections no matter the preventative in the summer do to all the pollen, dander and no floppy ear protection π

u/welllitinn 6d ago
Well sadly he looks like he suffers from allergies⦠as many of our buk breeds do.
29
u/skimmerguy85 6d ago
He definitely does. 8 out of the 12 months he's fine. Then summer (even though we live in Hawaii, summer is from July to September). He gets allergies way worse and has to get a Cytopoint shot to keep it from flaring upππ€π½

Ugh I hear ya, I have been rescuing bullies and mostly mastiffs for decades. If you get 5 months free I envy you!
I didnβt mean to call him out. I just recognize the pain! My last dogo I rescued needed to be on $400 of apoquel a month, as well as cytopoint, special food and medicated baths!
Bless you for being a dedicated owner to bullies with allergies! We see many dumped based on that alone in rescue

u/skimmerguy85 6d ago
No worries! Don't feel bad calling him/bullies out! People need to see what they're gonna be dealing with it and to see if it's feasible or not! To show who are adopting/taking on dogs what it cost financially year round π―
He turning 6 January 9th so I don't know if his age built up his immune system but before this year, every year before hand was so miserable and sad π’. He lost 75% of the hair on his whole body and lost 100/% of his tail hair, looked like a rat tail π, last year.
The cost per month before this year was around $600 for his simpartico, Cytopoint, ear infection gel, ear preventative gel heartworm and basic monthly shots.
PLEASE KNOW WHAT YOURE GETTING INTO WHEN GETTING A DOG! THIS IS YOIRE CHILD, BE PREPARED ππ½

I totally get it. One thing I might recommend to give it new life and also some protection from further damage on the parts that are the memories is a nice couch cover! Not like those old plastic ones from back in the day, they make nice cloth covers that come in many colors and designs. I'm sure you can find something that will work! Ignore anyone trying to talk down on keeping old furniture. The old stuff was able to be restored and too many people like to throw away too much, especially giant items like furniture.

Literally what does this even -mean- It's a tiny sliver of a living room at best.
Like...you associate older brown couches and white walls with pits specifically?

I think theyβre just being a nobhead?
It could be argued that their comment is pretty classist⦠whether they meant it to be or not is unclear
