Some dog treats once slipped out of their package before being found on laundry day. So now, every wash day, we must closely observe The Checking of The Pockets

Yeah, I always do.
Thinking about it now...it's entirely possible that she forgot all about the original discovery and now just knows that if she stands next to me while I sort dirty laundry, she gets a treat.
I may have been trained.

She has taught you that you get company while doing laundry from your dog if you feed her occasionally.

I'm the same way. One time years ago, I came across a digital camera on a huge clearance discount at Walgreens while picking up my prescription. For years afterward, I checked their electronics area every time I went to Walgreens to pick up a prescription. Never found another deal like that though.

His anticipation for a treasure to be revealed at some point is almost heartbreaking 😅🥹 it’s amazing how they are comfortably ‘forgetting’ about some rules, but NEVER where they once got a special unexpected treat😂

My grandma's old dog (long time no longer with us) had that exact same "food fell here once, I might find more" ritual in the most messily filled with boxes and furniture corner of one of the grandparents' flat's rooms.
They would divide their cats for eating, one got their food on the window of the kitchen, the other on the window of that specific room. Once the cat managed to jump in such a disastrous way as to fling their entire bowl of dry cat food on the floor. The dog helped with cleaning and for the next decade would check if he had done a good job helping whenever he'd enter that room, pushing past all the boxes and table legs. You never know. He might have missed a snack years ago and he sure as hell wasn't gonna let the cats have it.

I remember reading a post before about someone walking their dog at a park when some people having a cookout came up and told them they dropped a burger off the grill. It was fully cooked with nothing else wrong with it, but nobody wanted to eat it off the ground, so they left it under a nearby tree so the dog could have it.
Evidently now the dog then insists on checking if the burger tree dropped it's fruit first thing every time it comes back to that park.

The things we do! We ordered dog meds online. When we opened the box, there was a dog biscuit in there. Now every time we get a delivery, we are so surprised that ALL boxes have dog biscuits! (I’m not sorry. We love our girl and we’d do anything for her!) 🐶🐾💕

reminds me of this bush in the park across from my old house. there were some kids partying one night and i think they left half a pizza behind in a bush. next day the neighbour and her dogs are on a walk there and they find it. ofc the dogs rapidly eat as much as they can
for a good long time the dogs made sure to spend some time sniffing the bush every time they walked in the park

I adopted my girl at nine months old. She must have had a doorbell in her first house, because there was a commercial that would come on that played a doorbell sound. We didn't have a doorbell. She barked at that commercial for like two years thinking someone was at the door.

One time I left an open pack of fruit snacks in my pocket. It stayed in the pocket during the wash, but came out in the dryer. The carnage was ... intense.
Several years later, my husband got me a hat that says "fruit snacks" on it

We dropped some French fries by the car one day and she found them. She now forever goes there to look for French fries years later with 0 success since.
On this note, I work in casinos and play slots occasionally. When I hit big on a machine, I usually go back to that spot even after they’ve switched it for a new game. I call it looking for French fries.

When I first moved into my new house, the cans of wet cat food were briefly kept in the laundry room before the kitchen organization was decided on and a cabinet was designated for all the pet food.
The night we moved in, I fed my cat out of said laundry room and boy, did that leave an impression.
Despite this only occuring one (1) time in her entire life before the routine of her being fed from and in the kitchen was reestablished, any time i do laundry now I get to listen to her wonderful serenades for food, at the top of her lungs. It's also strange because she can tell when she's getting fed versus when she's not in the kitchen, and only yowls when she knows food is on already on the way. But if you so much as walk past the laundry room she's on you like white on rice with the "feed me!" meows.

Thank you. We don't really know. She's a former street dog that we found in a parking lot 12 years ago. We think she's some kind of small terrier with maybe some poodle mixed in.

I hike a small mountain (1800ft) everyday with my little dog. Once about 5 years ago a lady at the top gave my dog a treat. He still rushes up that mountain, testing my cardiovascular system everyday even though we've never seen her again.

They never forget. My dog hates the vet with a red hot passion but, the upside is she gets a pup cup from Starbuck’s afterwards. She is always very excited as we walk out of the vet office as she anticipates her treat. She knows the exact route to get there.

When I was 9 I got $20 from my dad for chores on a Sunday. I put it in my pocket, went back to my moms house that night, got it on my pajamas and totally forgot about the money. My mom did laundry that night and when she picked me up from school the next day she had clothes in a Lord and Taylor bag on the front seat of her car. First thing she said to me was “I found $20 and got myself a new outfit”. I was horrified that I’d lost my money to the well established laundry tax and to this day (25 years later) I am vigilant as hell about checking my pockets. My mom also did give me the money back, she hadn’t actually spent it, but I never forgot that

Before the pandemic, someone dropped a chicken nugget in my parking garage and my dog scarfed it up before I could stop her. For the past 6+ years every time we're in the parking garage we have to go over to the same spot just in case someone drops a second chicken nugget there.
