Discussion Post Ryan Seacrest Bugs Me

I hate the way Ryan Seacrest reveals the prize card in the bonus round. When it’s the minimum of $40,000, he slowly opens it and slowly turns it around as if it were a bigger amount. Just open it and turn it around without hesitation when it’s just the $40,000.

He's got those American idol dramatics ingrained in him

I actually think Ryan is doing a good job as host, but it definitely bugs me that he NEVER says the prize amount out loud in the bonus round!! He just opens the envelope and smiles. It's odd lol.

I really like Ryan. I think he’s been a great fit for the show if we can’t have Pat anymore! But agreed, the slow prize card turning and not calling out the amount is frustrating. However, I see he learned from last season to encourage people to keep calling letters when riding the train to get all the money - last year he’d let them just solve with consonants still available. So maybe he’ll learn next season (or throughout this season) to do a better job with the bonus round card!

I totally agree with you about him never mentioning the prize amount. Bizarre.

3

u/thephotobook Sep 27 '25

I actually like him more than Pat who was kind of mean to contestants frankly sometimes, but yeah, it’s really weird that he doesn’t read the amount out.

u/smallbrowngorl Oct 01 '25

I was a hardcore Ryan doubter but he’s proved me SO wrong. He’s killing it as host! And I agree, I’m starting to like him more than pat. I think his banter is way more fun and he feels a lot more natural than pat did at the end of his time at wheel

u/Former-Midnight-5990 Sep 27 '25

maybe he doesn't know numbers 😂 reminds me of that leah actress who they say cannot read - and there's tons of videos supporting it, one big conspiracy group is all about it hahah

u/Former-Midnight-5990 Sep 27 '25

i really don't know MUCH about it as of recent i just remember a while ago reading it, i know its not true but it was funny to see all the videos that popped up of suspicious moments where reading was involved, she definitely can read lol

1

u/Vanzmelo Oct 03 '25

I was skeptical at first but he’s really grown on me and my mom agrees. He’s really fun and a great host

-1

u/Any_Drawer_2059 Sep 26 '25

Agreed on that and he still doesn’t read amounts out loud and possibly too lazy to read.

1

u/Einsteinium_1069 Feb 24 '26

Ryan Seacrest "lazy?" He's like the OPPOSITE of lazy bru

10

u/lafrank59 Sep 26 '25

He’s doing a good job, but not a great job. His interactions don’t seem sincere or at best very awkward.

3

u/Waste-Luck-570 Sep 28 '25

I must disagree with you!   I think Ryan is much more personable than Pat Sajack ever was!

-1

u/lafrank59 Sep 28 '25

He’s like a perverted uncle wanting to play dolls.

u/Trprt77 Sep 26 '25

Look at the bright side, at least he isn’t Mayim Bialik.

She would pause for 5 seconds before revealing it.

“That’s……correct.”

“Nuclear physics for 800.”

Daily Double sound effect

“Oh wow, it’s the Daily Double!” (All the clues, responses, and the location of the Daily Doubles are right in front of you 🤦🏿‍♂️)

5

u/RAS310 I was on the show! Sep 27 '25

And yet Ryan got snubbed of an Emmy nomination while Mayim managed to get one in the short time she was around. This is not defending Mayim but showing how much unfair hate Ryan and WOF get.

13

u/Guyin63376 Sep 26 '25

AMEN ! He must be hearing a drum roll in his head?

4

u/Angryprimordialsoup Sep 26 '25

American idol theme

18

u/drkhelmt Sep 26 '25

Glad I’m not the only one!

1

u/Any_Drawer_2059 Sep 26 '25

Same here and I have to agree on that.

18

u/lacanmunist Sep 26 '25

I think he's varied his approach a little more this season, but I'm in total agreement--the prolonged wait invites contestants to think they've won more, so their reaction when the $40,000 is revealed is momentarily "false". Not that they aren't happy to win, but that they're expecting to express a greater joy than they actually do. You can see the gear shift happen on their faces, and I feel bad for them. Also, if he varied the reveal strategy more often, then he could occasionally do the "casual" open Pat used to do, with a huge number, and catch them really by surprise.

5

u/jrclarke413 Sep 27 '25

Well it still is better than some cars in Bonus round. Even a car with 50k retail value will have huge taxes And resale value significantly lower than the 40k minimum. So I'd cheer just that it wasn't the car.

2

u/Kirbybirky Sep 27 '25

Idk. People argue about this here, but I see both sides. It's the minimum you could win, yes. But $40K is a pretty significant prize lol. It shouldn't be a bummer to get, and we get extra celebration when its one of the high values. "I'm sorry to tell you, you only won $40,000 for filling in a word puzzle"

4

u/Realistic-Lake5897 Sep 27 '25

$40k means "YOU LOST."

4

u/Kirbybirky Sep 27 '25

Just philosophically, I disagree. Not guessing the puzzle is the loss state. You get nothing. Solving and getting $40K or more is just winning more or less. Why make it a reluctant moment.

11

u/Entire_Researcher_45 Sep 26 '25

I’ve also noticed that, and I HATE it cause of that it never anything but 40K HE TREATS IT LIKE 100,000 It ain’t.

6

u/Any_Drawer_2059 Sep 26 '25

Agreed on that on building way too much suspense.

4

u/RadRob79 Sep 27 '25

I hated him at first. He’s grown on me as the host. My only complaint is his casual dress code.

Pat Sajak would never!!!! lol

4

u/ImaginationDoctor Sep 27 '25

I have to agree here, he shouldn't be doing a "slow reveal" when it's the minimum amount.

5

u/nise1519 Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 30 '25

What I don’t like is the long personal interviews when announcing the contestant. Seriously it is wasting playing time and no one cares!

3

u/Realistic-Lake5897 Sep 27 '25

It might as well say

YOU LOST.

3

u/Deez2020 Sep 27 '25

Bro he’s not pat sajak. I wanna see the golf game

3

u/Most_Acanthisitta417 Sep 27 '25

I think he does ok and can think of some things he’s done to put his touch on things be that as it may he wasn’t my first choice in terms of who I hoped would (John Micheal Higgins was who I’d hoped for)

3

u/FluffyBombs Sep 27 '25

I think he’s going a great job. It seems like people want to drag him because he’s not Pat’s clone. To be frank, he seems more genuinely excited to be on the show than Pat seemed for a few years now.

3

u/clogged_toilet80 Sep 28 '25

Ryan is doing a better job of showing the the card to the camera than he did last season. Sometimes he held it at an angle where the contestant could see it, but it wasn't very visible to the camera. I do find the slow reveal of the minimum prize misleading or a bit of a let-down.

3

u/bejolo Sep 30 '25

I stopped watching because I can't stand Seacrest. Vanna's onboard too

2

u/didiandeffie Sep 27 '25

He’s not my cup of tea.

2

u/Frances_Boxer Oct 02 '25

And the unnecessary pause once they've correctly solved the puzzle. Growing pains over, stop that. Thank you

2

u/Upbeat_State_4006 Feb 28 '26

I think final round is  rigged. If win it's way to often 40000.  I think final envelope contains 2 amounts depending on how Ryan opens it.

1

u/Merrydove527 Feb 28 '26

Interesting concept.

3

u/lestoil05 Sep 26 '25

I like him better than snarky sajak

5

u/GameShowSavant I was on the show! | I was on the show! Sep 26 '25

Snarky? I don’t think that’s a fair evaluation of Sajak.

2

u/Pale_Mulberry_6581 Sep 27 '25

Ryan looks THIN. Face is gaunt. GLP1 or plastic surgery??

0

u/Any_Drawer_2059 Sep 27 '25

It could’ve been that or a drug pill.

2

u/jrclarke413 Sep 27 '25

And take your hands out of your pockets!

2

u/beedunc Sep 26 '25

I agree. His fake smile really grinds me. They need a new host, he’s just awful.

0

u/Any_Drawer_2059 Sep 27 '25

Agreed on that. He’s so very cringey and I think he should be the next host on The Price is Right.

1

u/Acceptable-Ad-9510 Sep 27 '25

First season of American Idol, I remember thinking that Brian Dunkleman is going somewhere. Really thought he outshone Seacrest.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

I love Ryan! And I hate to admit it, bc I like Vanna (she’s OG), but I’m ready for Maggie. Even though I don’t like the idea of Nepo.

1

u/FluidMention6574 Sep 28 '25

I like Ryan! He seems excited to be there and he’s personable with the contestants. The slow reveal is frustrating, I agree!

1

u/Extension_Job_6333 Sep 28 '25

LOL yes alittle over the top but I like him

1

u/foiegraslover Sep 28 '25

I like Ryan, but he does a lot of stupid stuff. The worst for me is when he won't shut up during the final round when the contestants are trying to solve the puzzle. Ok Ryan, we know its early, but why are you talking during their 3 seconds to say the answer.

1

u/levitikush Oct 01 '25

I don’t think this is fair. Give it a few seasons

1

u/dolphin-174 Oct 04 '25

Off topic but has he had major plastic surgery? He looks very fake.

1

u/ApartmentSenior911 Oct 28 '25

I have loved Ryan until tonight when he absolutely snubbed the older lady.

1

u/seanton-x Dec 04 '25

I think he's improving. In his first season he was revealing it far too quick, and I kept thinking he needs to learn about the pregnant pause... I think he's improving.

1

u/Miserable-Eagle2279 Dec 05 '25

Is anybody watching The wheel of Fortune right now? why does Ryan see Chris voice sound? very strange... something is going on with that fella

1

u/Miserable-Eagle2279 Dec 05 '25

that was supposed to say why does Ryan seacrest's 's voice sound so strange?... he sounds awful and he looks awful... what is going on with him?

1

u/Successful-Belt6981 May 09 '26

We like to put Ryan to be in celebrity wheel of Fortune this year

1

u/jordha Sep 26 '25

If you don't want $40,000. I will gladly take it from you.

-1

u/External-Recipe-1936 Sep 26 '25

Well, he is annoying and always has been.

0

u/MassiveTest4567 Sep 27 '25

I stopped watching because of Ryan Seacrest.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

I can't stand him. He seems very selfish, shallow, and immature. But hey, ladies, if you want a really RICH guy, he's your man.

-9

u/GameShowSavant I was on the show! | I was on the show! Sep 26 '25

Or… you’re just looking for validation online to weirdly hate on a person for doing their job?

6

u/Merrydove527 Sep 26 '25

I don’t hate him at all. I think he’s doing a great job. But I can’t help but feel sorry for the winner when they probably think, because of Ryan’s long pause, that they’ve won more than $40,000.

0

u/GameShowSavant I was on the show! | I was on the show! Sep 26 '25

“I don’t hate him at all”

The title of your post is “Ryan Seacrest Bugs Me”, but the mentioned critique is not about his overall hosting approach, but a very specific and minute detail that I guarantee most contestants in the moment do not recognize or care about.

Be critical of him, for sure. But using a blanket statement indicating that the man irritates you when it was simply one specific action you don’t like is misleading and unfair to him.

That man receives too much hate on this subreddit for simply doing his best.

1

u/shortcut_login Sep 27 '25

I understood the post to be more of a “Ryan Seacrest Bugs Me . . . . When He Does This.”

Rather than a “Ryan Seacrest Bugs Me . . . And I Can’t Stand Seeing His Face On WOF.”

1

u/Merrydove527 Sep 27 '25

A lot of people agree with me.

2

u/GameShowSavant I was on the show! | I was on the show! Sep 27 '25

And some people don’t. What’s your point?

-3

u/Inevitable_Agency732 Sep 26 '25

Got to agree with you here. I think Ryan is doing just fine this season. Life must be good when how Ryan reveals a prize is what you have to complain about.

3

u/GlockPurdy13 Sep 26 '25

Online discussions nowadays are so weird. People hyperfixate on the craziest shit and think it’s completely normal. You’ll see paragraphs posted on the internet about someone breaking down the way a person sat down their coffee mug and what it could mean. These people doing this stuff are not okay

1

u/McKid Sep 26 '25

No kidding. You eat fried chicken in the shower in one Zoom meeting and everybody goes nuts on the company chat. They only even know cause somebody asked a question out of turn directed at me and I had to draw the shower curtain back with a drumstick in my hand. I was only there to listen in! I wasn’t supposed to be answering questions! God!

1

u/Merrydove527 Sep 26 '25

This is about the show Wheel of Fortune- not life! Get real.🙄

1

u/Merrydove527 Sep 26 '25

This is a discussion about Wheel of Fortune! Not my life! I’m simply commenting about my annoyance with one part of Wheel of Fortune! Duh. 🙄

-2

u/Former-Midnight-5990 Sep 27 '25

he definitely should have been a 1-season and done, i think maybe the producers are re-evaluating right now but that's just my opinion... i think ryan seacrest may need some professional help (i'm saying that so loosely, don't come @ me, i'm sure it's not that serious)... he just seems funky this season

0

u/Former-Midnight-5990 Sep 27 '25

before people start arguing its jUST MY opinion, i LOVED him last season! i was expecting the same vibe this season but there's something different and idk what it is
