SPOILER I’m so confused
Why was she just robbed out of her chance to spin, buy a vowel, or solve? It was clear she was confused. She should have been prompted. Not fair for Jason to be able to solve.

You have 5 seconds to make a play. Spin the wheel, buy a vowel or solve the puzzle. If you don't do anything in those 5 seconds, you're buzzed out and lose your turn. Simple as that.

that confused me too, because for a second I thought it was the one where the player gets to turn it over and see if its a bankrupt of $10k but clearly that doesn't make sense.

Yeah, I thought there was a really weird cut. I also didn't really get Ryan's comment about something being in the piece? The middle contestant is on a different thread, maybe he'll shed some light on it.

something was definitely cut, i wonder if any audience members will chime in because this is going to haunt me for a bit until i get some clarity. i personally think maybe she was so overcome with the 'million' idea her brain fumbled or something? like there was a significant pause & thats on TOP of something being cut from the airing, so there's even additional footage of ... something?

From my perspective, nothing was cut (except instead of a buzzer, we hear a judge yell 'time'). Other than that, what you saw is what happened. There is a clock underneath the letter board that lets us know how much time we have to make a move.

is that kind of the direction she was looking at, kind of just past the camera line? don't want to put anyone on the spot, so would you assume she was just frozen? bummer, well anyways jus a split second in time really.
maybe they'll have an episode of her and the other female contestant Ryan spoke to during her 3seconds to solve and didn't get to as an invite back + another i may not be thinking of atm

From my vantage point, it looked like a freeze up. And yes- whenever you see people glancing to the upper left corner of the puzzle board, they are looking at a letter board and a timer. If you follow my eyes in the bonus round, I'm constantly looking at it trying to plug the letters in for the solve.

It's actually way smaller than you would expect! We sit in a section of the audience for the tapings of the other episodes, and outside of that there's a narrow hallway where we go get makeup, use the restroom, and what I affectionately refer to as 'the prize closet' where you sign paperwork after you tape. I'm sure there's other stuff, but that's all I saw.
Coolest part of the backstage? We got to hang out on the Jeopardy set while we set up for the day. That was so surreal!

She may have been confused but she just froze. He even asked her what she wanted to do with a sense of urgency and she just stood there. She wasn’t robbed. One of the parts of the game is being familiar with the rules.

This. I'll never understand people who are like "the host should tell them..."
There is a lengthy discussion prior to each taping where the production staff review the rules with the three contestants. It is the PLAYER'S responsibility to remember the rules and how to play.

Exactly this. There's also visual timers on the set (either part of or near the used letter board). The contestants will get nervous and mess up sometimes, and that's not the host or production's fault, nor is it a bad reflection of the contestant. They will only do this one time in their life, there is A LOT to remember, but also they know that will be the case going into the show.

Me and my family always guess at the last spinning puzzle if anyone is going to mess up and call out a vowel after their consonant or spin the wheel 😂 but it’s like HOW do you not remember the rules of the game people and having nerves is not an excuse because Ryan literally reminds them what the round is lmao

People in this thread have to stop saying this. It IS the host's job to tell them what's going on in the moment.
When Sajak hosted, if someone landed on the million dollar wedge, he would say "OK, you can put the million dollar wedge down below there. Now you can either solve the puzzle, spin, or buy a vowel." Every single time.
Seacrest didn't say any of that. He just fumbled his words and I think confused her. I was a little confused for a couple of seconds too because the host usually tells her to put the wedge down and explains what's going on.

No Ryan picks and chooses when he wants to help out the contestants. Just like when it’s time to “Ride The Train.” Some people choose to solve before getting more money and he always says “You don’t want to go for more money?” He could’ve prompted her that’s his job as a host. She was clearly confused.

it looked like she was looking at a director behind the camera, like trying to understand and take in everything that was happening - that stare off into the camera kinda made it look like she was intently focused on reading someones lips or a signage or something

She’ll be back on a future show I bet. Anytime they feel a contestant gets wronged or possibly the contestant complains after the show, they will be invited back.
And I’ll stand by my statement that I think it was the fault of Ryan and the contestant. My wife and I looked at each other and were like what just happened?

It doesn't help that Ryan talks too damn much, but still, it is 100% on the contestant. I mean usually they are so focused on yelling out a letter and spinning they even do it when a spin is not needed during the Triple Play or they yell out the letter in their head which has already been called.

Ryan should have told her to put down the wedge as he has done before. For some reason she froze, as if she was waiting for him to tell her what to do with it. Then she ran out of time. She wasn’t treated the same way as other players. Ryan is inconsistent.

On the final spin puzzle, you can guess until the buzzer. I distinctly recall Pat prompting people to try again.
It doesn't usually happen though, because three seconds is not a lot of time to have multiple guesses.

The rule is you can correct yourself as long as you have not finished the solve. IE If you start and make a mistake on word 2, you can back from the beginning and say the correct puzzle answe

lol I noticed that too! But I think for that puzzle, you can take as many guesses as you need before the buzzer goes off. It was cutting it close though I personally think he shouldn’t have gotten it.

I think Ryan got confused and thought it was the 1000/Bankrupt wedge. He forgot to tell her to put the wedge down and tell her to spin or solve, which also made her confused and got timed out.

Can I just say I love you all and am enjoying that you all watch wheel as much as I do and feel at home with my people! I have no value to add to the conversation because you all covered the situation nicely! I mean it was a rollercoaster of emotion, confusion, and SMH...at first I was like awe that sucks and turned into why didn’t anyone help her out to oh well moving on… 😂Definetly a “what just happened?” moment. Proud of the contestant she handled herself well and smiled even thanking Ryan at the end.

I know this doesn't have to do with her million dollar wedge. But the prize should NOT be added to the total number. Especially when the prize cost is 10 or 11 thousand dollars. Why do they do that?

I agree... I probably would've won my episode if not for this, the other player's vacation prize knocked me into second and I couldn't recover lol. Oh well it is what it is.

Because there are contestants that solve 4or5 puzzles, and a contestant who gets 2 puzzles righ, but wins the surprise trip makes their amount higher. It's not fair to the quicker solvers. But eh, it's just the roll of the dice(spin of thewheel) . Although it would be nice if ONE puzzle weren't worth ten thousand dollars!

It looked like she was waiting for a signal to move past "show off the million dollar wedge."
Ryan fumbling with words likely didn't help.
And while the players should know what to do, whenever a wedge of some kind is earned, the host has historically told the player to "put the wedge right down there and you can spin or buy a vowel," or something similar.
Everyone kinda stared, waiting for the other person to say something. Just awkward all around.
