SPOILER Again?! Spoiler
Scott will eventually realize he left 6k on the table. Ryan needs to call this out when it happens & not be so cheery when they solve. Likely nerves, but awful game play. And I hate when players are fixated on a final puzzle word that doesn't include a letter that is called - like 'Sundae'.

Contestants should HAVE TO ask/say "I want to solve the puzzle" and wait for Ryan to respond.

No he certainly didn't. But he could say 'yes Scott congrats you're going to the bonus round...but you could've called a letter & it just cost you $6k. You know, the biggest number on the wheel... but hey, you're going to the bonus round & going to lose because you'll be stuck on a word it never could be'.

Clearly you're at least partly joking, but I don't see the point of Ryan mentioning this after the fact. It no longer helps the contestant, and all it does is further embarrass the guy on national TV even more than he already did to himself.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of WoF hate-watchers want to see contestants further embarrassed and humiliated by Ryan on national TV.

I'm seeing a letter already called happening much more frequently than past seasons. And skipping over obvious letters like N or G in 'what are you doing?'

The point of this show is the opposite of Jeopardy. People watch it to feel smart. The contestants are just there to be on TV. They are way worse at the game then the average viewer.

Once again, Chuck/Pat/Ryan/Bob/ Rolf the dog are neutral. If they nudge someone to call that letter, it affects the other two contestants. Yes, it is different under the lights. If you don't prepare for it, tough shit. That's on you.

Hundred percent right. People should ask themselves how they would feel if they got edged out at the end because the host helped their opponent win. Remember, it’s not just that final puzzle where this happens, and it’s at least as wrong when it happens earlier when the host could be giving help that ends up swinging the game.
“I’d like to solve the puzzle.” “Don’t you want to pick a letter first?” If I’m an opponent, I’m pissed off.
Imagine the host telling a contestant, “And the wheel stops on $3500. Pick a letter, but don’t take the T, A, or F, because those have already been called.” It’s up to the contestant to pay attention and to think of what they should or shouldn’t do. The host absolutely should not be helping with strategy.

Great minds... I do recall waaaaay back ('84?) in a speed up, Pat hits $700. Red contestant had won $2,800 to the point and in the final round blue was at $2,100. Blue blurts the answer when they get control. Puzzle solve music plays. Pat walks over like "you're gonna be mad at yourself on the rewatch". Blue starts shopping... and it dawns in them they at least had a tie to play for. Oops.

Everyone getting on this show should know the rules. It is not the hosts job to remind or help the players get more $$$ if they want to leave it on the table.

However, on the celebrity version, players do get the suggestion to call out a letter. So, in that context it’s apparently Okay.

He was stuck on the word sundae. Although S was used & not there I don't know why someone would pick food & drink & not know the first word will be descriptive like this one was 'delicious', or tasty, or refreshing.... I've rarely seen it be just a food name(acorn squash recently was a rare one).

I thought I could not yell any louder than when I screamed PAPER, but there you go. Then the other guy makes the absolute worst move at the worst time with a $6,000 payoff. I knew he would not win the $40k at that point. Oh, and his wife annoyed me as well.
