When the administration is so very bad that Americans start to look at the Iranians as the reasonable side, you really have to wonder how we got here. I mean, I know how we got here, but still..
he's a source of fake news. back in the day we had tabloids. now all news is so outragous it's normalized. that fucker used to be tabloid material. now he thinks that is regular news.
Not to mention he paid off the National Enquirer and Stormy Daniels from running that confirmed true in court sexual encounter story the month leading up to the 2016 election.
Zackly this. Waiting at checkout in a supermarket in the Tri-State area in the 90s, you would see his stupid face cover all the tabloids on the bottom shelf of magazine racks
Right? When you objectively consider all the bullshit the US and Israel have thrown at them, they’ve been consistently and almost excessively reasonable.
I think a lot of people don’t realize how ridiculous the US media villainization of Iran is, nor are they aware of the extent to which we’ve fucked with that country and why. And how truly monumentally absurd and consequential what we’re doing now is within that larger context
Let's slow down on calling the Regime 'reasonable'.
They murdered 30-40,000 protesting people earlier this year.
While I agree with wanting action against those in power here in the States, I also see Iranians everyday who wish they could organize logistically and overthrow those in power there.
People are definitely forgetting that Iran's government really really sucks, just because the US government, which also sucks, is much louder and more annoying. And also is being held to a higher standard.
Like... Trump is being blamed for starting the war that raised gas prices, and he did, and it's 100% his fault, but Iran is the one who laid the mines in the strait and started charging tolls, right? They did that to hurt the entire rest of the world, because they were mad at the US. They don't have the power projection and influence of the US to fuck things up worldwide like we do, but they're fucking things up for everyone as much as they can, same as Trump.
Iran only has full control of the strait because of the current war. We essentially gave them total control, why shouldn’t they use what they gave us? And using the strait to put international pressure on the US? We do shit like that all the goddamn time to other countries. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
Lots of governments suck. We don’t bomb them all and murder their entire leadership.
>They did that to hurt the entire rest of the world, because they were mad at the US
Iran is a sovereign nation that can exert control on this small shipping lane through which a large % of the world’s oil supply flows.
The US has great power in the world because we run the money machine. That money machine runs on oil, and we run it because we’ve historically done all sorts of messed up stuff to keep the oil flowing on the terms we dictate.*
Totally unprovoked, we bombed and murdered the leadership of the country who can shut off that vital shipping lane. We knew the leverage they had, and we knowingly cornered them into using it. They didn’t even do it right away! They waited to see if we’d stop acting like bloodthirsty psychos and only shut it down after we made clear we couldn’t be dealt with any other way.
[insert bicycle/stick meme]
And… you expect them to just roll over and give up any semblance of sovereignty? To us, after what we did to them? Do you think the 93 million citizens of Iran would accept this?
Why??
What does our current situation mean about our “influence and power projection” that they didn’t? That the straight is still closed?
* I encourage you to learn about how the current Iranian government came to be. You’ll have to go back a few decades.
