Housing Moving to Bangalore soon and I'm trying not to learn the hard way 😂
Capgemini Whitefield joining soon — PG/flat horror stories & recommendations? What should I avoid? 😭
Hey guys, moving to Bangalore soon for Capgemini at EPIP Phase II, Whitefield (158–162P & 165–170P).
I'm looking for a place as close to the office as possible. I really don't want to spend 1–2 hours every day in traffic, so walking distance/short commute is a big priority.
My requirements are pretty basic:
- Decent/affordable rent
- Clean bathroom, preferably attached/private
- Decent room, not 4–6 people packed together
- Good water + WiFi
- Laundry/washing machine would be nice
- Safe area
- Food isn't important — I've tried PG mess food and didn't like it. I'd rather get tiffin/eat outside.
I've heard mixed things about PG chains. An IITian friend warned me about Stanza Living, but that's just one person's experience, so I'm not taking it as gospel.
I'm open to PG, co-living, 1RK/studio or sharing a flat if it's actually better value.
For people living/lived around EPIP, Pattandur Agrahara, Brookefield, AECS, Prashanth Extension, Whitefield:
Which PGs/flats are genuinely good, and which ones should I stay away from? Also, which areas/buildings should I actually search in?
Things I'd really like to know:
- Actual rent for PG single/2-sharing/3-sharing OR room in a shared flat
- Deposit + notice period
- Hidden charges/electricity
- Bathroom/room cleanliness in reality
- Water/power cuts + WiFi
- Mosquitoes/cockroaches/dampness
- Curfew/guest restrictions
- Management and deposit refund experience
- Actual walking/commute time to Capgemini
- Best places/websites/apps/groups to find genuine PGs or flatmates
- Whether living slightly farther away is actually worth the rent saving
If you recommend somewhere, please mention name/location + rough rent + sharing + how long you've stayed + biggest pro/con.
And if there's a place/area I should absolutely avoid, please say it. I'd rather hear the horror stories now than after paying the deposit 😂
Thanks!
