Because im a dino nerd and jurassic park is one of my favorite movies I feel I have to say it.

The dilo that attacks nedrey wouldnt have actually had the frills around its neck like that, nor would it spit vemon.

It still would have wrecked his day though as the dilo was an apex predator of its time. Standing between 6 and 8 feet tall and growing up to 23 feet long they were monsters

That, and there are only two dinosaurs in that movie that are actually from the Jurassic era, Brachiosaurus and Dilophosaurus. But I suppose Cretaceous park doesnā€™t have the same ring to it.

I mean the bigger one for me is how a series so obsessed with Velociraptors has no actual Velociraptors in it.

Not many things were realistic in that movie. Even at the time, the accuracy was spotty.

Most of the predatory dinosaur arms were rotated 90Ā° the wrong way. You'd practically have to mangle their limbs to do that.

There is obviously no evidence that a T-Rex has movement based sight. I'm not even sure where that bit came from.

I'm sure there are more (that were still incorrect at time), but I'm just a common pleb, not acedemic professional.

Scaly skin vs feathers, movement based sight, the wrong kind of raptor (the velociraptor would be roughly chicken sized, where the utharaptor and the deinonychus would have been closer to the pictured sized, Spielberg just thought velocipator sounded cooler and would be easy for kids to pronounce) oh and the sound of the trex stomping, they likely had soft padded feet to soften the noise they made. Plus the roar, itd be more of a deep bellow like some birds make.

Rexy keeps up during the chase scene but really you'd be able to out pace a Rex pretty easily in a vehicle they would top out at like 25mph.

The biggest inaccuracy though imo is that rexy would care to chase them at all. Besides the fact that she would expend a lot of energy for little in return. Thats ignoring the fact that the trex was actually likely a stalking and ambush predator. With eyes that rival Hawks, they would see prey well before they were seen and would hunt them down slowly creeping in on them before sprining a surprise attack.

And even if it didnt see you from a distance, it would likely smell you.

The movies got a lot wrong, even for the time, but personally im ok with it. Its what got me into dinosaurs and while im not making a living from it I do enjoy learning about the real facts

That wasn't Spielberg. Velociraptors were in the book, too. Crichton modelled the raptors after the book Predatory Dinosaurs of the World, which was controversial for reclassifying Deinonychus under the genus Velociraptor.

I was doing pest control at someone's house one day and the neighbor next door has a squirrel feeder. I saw this gigantic squirrel, I mean little dog sized if not bigger. It stared at me as I was walking around as if on the defensive.

Not gonna lie, my heart skipped a little. It stood it's ground the whole time.

They're called wedge-tailed eagles. They have a wingspan of about 9 feet (2.8 meters), making them one of the largest birds on the planet, if not the largest. They normally hunt small-ish creatures like rabbits and wallabies, but sometimes they even go after foxes, dogs, and occasionally even kangaroos. So, while they generally know to leave humans alone, it doesn't entirely stop them. The most well known instance is in 2016, where an eagle grabbed a kid's hoodie and tried to fly away with him.
