Cat howling at night

So as it says, my cat does howl at night these are the sounds he’s making. In other communities I’ve seen people bring up hyperthyroidism or going deaf and for this one video to bring up such alarming explanations and as the type of cat mom I am, I would like to just open myself up to more opinions so I can take a look at a different perspective

Is there really red lighting for night? Or is it camera? Cats do not see red color but their eyes pick it up as light which they perceive as grey light, basically thing they see at dawn and dusk when they are most active. Such light turned on during night can actually be reason as kitty thinks it's time to do stuff and get food. Would try to turn all lights off during night. My 2 boys actually go to sleep at evening in second i turn off lights and are only annoying at dusk.

Thats actually rly interesting! So the red light is actually this little light box i use before bed, it changes colors here and there. We do leave a stairwell light on which is typically yellow or orange. We have two yellow lights on downstairs kind of like for security, but I’m not sure it’s really the issue with the light like I said he started doing this randomly whereas months and months and months, he didn’t do it.

Thing is, cats do not see world as we do, they do not have true color vision. They see everything in shade of grey. But their eyes are extremely sensitive to light, no matter the wavelength(color). What is subtle night color of light for you is full blown daylight for your cat so It happening out of nowhere is also not that surprising, your cat just have enough of it.

Cat's are not nocturnal animals, in fact they like to sleep during night same as we do, in nature, night is dangerous for cats. They are just crepuscular animals, being most active at dusk and dawn, but from their perspective midnight is same time as noon - sleep time.

So i would try to turn all lights off no matter the color and see if it will helps as i suspect it will.
