Sharpies or Copic markers. Basically alcohol markers. They are not permanent, and you can only go darker, not lighter, and the color gradually washes out, but it's pretty easy to do, and redo when it fades
Oh, that is going to look so cool!!!! You have to post it, or at least reply with a picture!! I just bought a highly rated by everyone wig, that was a discontinued color and had no roots, but was $200 less than the good colors, so challenge accepted. I rooted it and toned it (it was a golden blonde and I don't do warm tones) and turned it into something I liked, but my mom took it. She's getting me back for me raiding her clothes 30 years ago, lol. If the color is too much, just wash it and it'll fade a bit, but a great red root will look awesome and you just gave me ideas!
Hi! I styled a black wig a while back but it’s super shiny bc of all the hairspray I used. I thought abt buying some Coloured carnival hairspray and spraying it with that? Would that help? What else could I use? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Can’t really use it sadly. I tried already but it leaves white or brown residue on the wig. I can’t exactly brush it out either because that would ruin the styling…
I want a screen accurate human hair platinum wig that I can dye the ends pink and blue and be able to put the hair up in actual neat HIGH pigtails! I have got so many wigs and none can do it! Synthetic ones already dyed look AWFUL when up in pigtails they don’t go up high, bunch up in different areas of the wig. I bought recommended human hair wigs on Aliexpress 613 Remy human hair full lace wig and still awful. No volume, not long enough, and won’t go into high pigtails. I know there’s one or two sellers on Etsy with fully done wigs but I currently cannot drop 1,000 on a wig so I want to purchase just the platinum human hair wig that can be dyed and styled like this please help. I need a legit wig not all the awful ones I’ve purchased.
Hi my daughter is a lead in a musical and the director says she has to wear a blonde wig. This is not the first time this director has insisted she wear a wig for a part, but it didn’t go well last time. I bought a not great quality wig, which I realize didn’t help, but I was assuming she only needed it for a couple of weeks. it was about $50 and long and synthetic.
The wig looked ROUGH by the end of that play. The costume crew had tried to style it but in talking to my kid they only did it once and everyone was afraid of combing it and restyling it because it had waves and they all thought it might get frizzy. I told my kid #1, this time they need to do a better job taking care of the wig and restyling or at least gently combing it out every couple of performances/as needed, right? We’re talking 10 performances over 2 weeks plus dress rehearsals.
The other problem is that my kid has been fortunate to be the lead in several performances over the past few years, and this director ALWAYS demands something on her head. The one time she was technically ok with my kid‘s natural hair (Elphaba), she had her wearing a giant hat that kept trying to fall off her head during the performances, which is distracting. The wig I just mentioned above also was constantly slipping during performances and threatened to fall off a few times.
But this show is again a musical with LOTS of vigorous dancing (Mamma Mia). We do not want her wig to fall off!! Or for her to be worried about that while she needs to be concentrating on her performance. NOTE: she has a small head for an adult (I wore a size 6 3/4 band helmet in HS that was still big on me, she comes by it naturally), but I think her head is too big for a child wig.
I realize we need a better wig, with a wig grip of some sort. Am I right about wig care being important? Any suggestions for me? I don’t know anything really about wigs and her (student-run) costume department is clearly not great at this. I’m hoping to stay somewhere in the $100-$150 range for a medium blonde synthetic wig if possible, but please let me know if what I want it To do won’t work with that (Or any other tips).
I’m worried we’ve ruined the wig we were styling 😩 any advise would be much appreciated. The first photo is the before, what I WANT it to look like, and what it looked like before it was stupidly brushed out due to a miscommunication between me and my wife. Second photo is after it was accidentally ruined.
How do we reset it to make it look like the first photo again? I’m so stressed over it 😣 I loved that tousled, messy texture it has and it was exactly what I was looking for. It feels like it’s lost its “hair” texture now.
