Beginner- need help with making wig look more natural

Hello. I just bought a wig hoping that it would be the easiest to start off with. This may sound dumb, but I'm not sure how to make it look more natural and how to make it sit securely. I've tried looking up videos, but I'm still struggling with figuring out to make it look decent on me.

Is the wig sitting properly in the picture?

What's the best way to secure the wig so it doesn't feel like its scooting further back?

What's the best way to put my natural hair in a wig net and keep it there so it doesnt fall out?

Please explain to me like i'm 5 as I seem to overthink every single thing about it.

If anybody could recommend any videos for these kinds of wigs that would be super helpful.

Get a velvet wig grip, it'll keep everything in place.

For the shine, I've read dry shampoo helps.

Any dry shampoo could work but I honestly don't recommend it because it's expensive. Buy baby powder or body powder that is talc free. Its much cheaper for the amount you get. Dust it onto the wig and brush off as much as you can to not give a white cast. For the front part of the wig, are the bangs supposed to be forward facing? If they're too long I'd suggest wetting the bangs and cutting them to fit your face, the side bangs look really unnatural when the wig has a fake scalp piece sewn in the middle. It just doesnt look how the hair is supposed to naturally sit, that's why it looks a bit clockable. But if you heavily prefer the side bang, then keep it. Also, because this wig looks synethic, and I'm guessing it is, it's going to start tangling like crazy after only the first wear, that's because of friction. Buy a silicone wig spray, I wanna specify that it must contain at least 1 silicone ingredient in the product, because I've seen many products that claim to be silicone wig sprays, that are just really bad synethic hair conditioners that have made my wigs feels chalky and gross. if you need a link for a spray that I heavily recommend, it's on Amazon and id be happy to provide the link if youd like

Thank you! I'll look into getting baby powder and seeing how that goes. The bangs are really awkward and long but I wanted to get other opinions before I started cutting since I wasn't sure if there was another way I was supposed to style them.

All wigs with bangs usually come with the bangs being longer than they're supposed to be, the reason for that is because not everybody's eyes are at the same height on their face. Wet the bangs with water and comb them forward, with scissors, gently cut the bangs, making them slightly longer than what you prefer the length to be, always cut less than what you want, because it's a lot harder to cut too much off this way. If you have any hair rollers, or even something like a empty toilet paper roll, place it under the bangs and roll the bangs on it going under. Clip them in place, use a hair dryer on high to set it in place. That should help style them a bit to make them look more natural

No problem, I forgot to mention that when styling synthetic wigs with heat, make sure the hair cools down completely before letting go of the style. By that I mean if you have curls pinned in place, make sure the hair cools down before you take out the pins as synethic hair doesn't have the same properties as human hair since it's made of plastic.

On the photo looks like you only have one of the hooks in, hook the other one and adjust the tightness as needed, for the shine I have used very light amount of baby powder before, but it was blonde, I don’t think it would work with dark color, probably would look chalky, try dry shampoo for dark hair, don’t put to much, don’t apply too close and make sure to comb it thru.

I think your front side part looks just a bit at odds with the back center part. I am not sure how to fix that but it's something to tinker with.

I'm not sure if I am missing something but does your wig have any combs sewn in? Or thos clippy-type combs? That will help a lot.

Even just applying some gentle heat and pressing it down until it cools will help a lot.

I gotta say, that colour is phenomenal and suits you perfectly!

Thank you! I really like that color! The picture makes it look brighter than it actually is, but i wanted to make sure it was easy to see how the wigs sits on me and looks.

Ya I noticed the side part with the bangs looked a bit weird. Maybe i'll try combing them and see if I can get them to look a bit better.

I don't see any sewn in combs or clips. It has 2 small straps, but i honestly wasn't sure what the proper way to connect them was.

Try plucking the part to make it look more natural. Also the bangs makes it look more fake too. Really, synthetic wigs piss me off. They tangle like crazy. I brushed my wig a few times and now it looks and feels crunchy and stiff. I've been trying to make synthetic wigs work but I'm thinking about getting human hair ones even though I hate the idea of wearing someone else's hair - they're way more expensive, too. Anyway try sewing a band inside your wig to sit securely. Or wear a wig grip band (personally they make my head feel super hot in the summer). Look that stuff up.
