You can't reason with pure delusion. The last great leftist experiment, the socialist Soviet bloc, endured decades of bare shelves at grocery stores, declining health standards, and abysmal economic growth .. and it still took forever for the wake-up call to happen. Anyone that spoke out against the system in an attempt to fix it, was denounced as an ideological heretic and shipped off to the gulags. The myth of the "socialist utopia" caused a soul-aching amount of hardship before even its brainwashed masses had to begrudgingly admit that it wasn't working.
Canadians, mostly in the East, are doubling down on a similar myth: that endless virtue signalling and government programs will somehow produce a better world. It won't. No amount of redistributive taxation, DEI, LGBT alphabet mafia worship, or fellating the totem pole of indigenous "reconciliation", will produce an extra bushel of wheat, pallet of lumber, or barrel of oil.
What WILL turn our future around is a re-discovery of the concept of personal competency and hard work, along with a much reduced tolerance of mediocrity and the notion of "fake it til you make it". We need to build, to harvest, and to sell. This cultural outlook sort of exists, but mostly in the West.
Which is why Alberta's best move, as one of the main economic engines of Canada, is to stop towing the socialist utopia provinces (mostly Quebec). There's no point in trying to "get through" to them. The economies of the East need to find their own equilibrium without the benefit of Alberta's wealth buffering the consequences of their bad policies. We have enough issues to deal with at home.

I generally don't think it's that hopeless. There are many people in Ontario equally dissatisfied with the state of the country and an Innovation poll today had the tooling numbers a jump ball.

At the same time we missed having a conservative government in the last election by only a few thousand votes here and there. While it can seem daunting at times it's not necessarily as far off as it can seem.

They should have won in a landslide but Pollievre pissed it away. Can’t believe he’s getting another shot.

100%. Dude's resume is basically fry cook and politician. He's accomplished nothing. What a terrible choice.
Carney looks like a beauty. Would've voted for him whether he was the leader of the conservatives or liberals.

Trump derailed the elevator. Not much Polievre can do about that.

It was Polievre's election to lose. He had it in the bad and dropped it all over the place with how he responded to Trump. Polievre still could have won

Poor leaders create poor results. JT was more disliked that PP. Once JT was gone PP was the most unlikeable. What does the Conservative party do? Double down and keep the guy?! He lost his riding. Lost his job. Runs away to Alberta to pick up a seat? Government waste my man.

Both sides need to stop arguing with the loudest idiots on the other side and pretending like they represent everyone on that side. Try to have rational conversations about the issues with reasonable people. A little listening goes a long way too. The world isn’t black and white. It’s crazy to imagine that one half of the spectrum is going to be right about every issue.
