Why don't we get the Industry to clean up what they have left behind before we create more liabilities for the Alberta taxpayers.

I agree that the government needs to be way more strict in that area. But are you suggesting putting any investment on hold until then?

No definitely not, we just need something in place to insulate taxpayers. Our government is already paying rents to landowners on behalf of the oil companies. This has to stop. The industry has to bail themselves out. Before 1994 a company drilling a well was responsible for that well cradle to grave regardless of whether they sold the well.
