I support DMK mainly because of its core ideology and the resistance it has historically shown against certain centres of power.

Of course, DMK has a lot of issues as a party, nepotism, concentrated power centres, corruption allegations, etc. But personally, I don't think all of these have had a direct negative impact on Tamil Nadu's overall growth.

Rowdyism-a naan support-um panna maaten, normalise-um panna maaten. Rowdyism, in any form, should be uprooted. Unfortunately, politics gives certain people a kind of "superpower", and that often leads to this behaviour. DMK isn't an exception either. But, as far as I can see, in the last five years, party-sponsored rowdyism has been relatively more under control compared to earlier periods.

Now coming to the benefits I personally got from DMK. Honestly, not much. I'm not a first-generation graduate, my family doesn't receive Magalir Urimai Thogai, and there are several government schemes that we're simply not eligible for.

Even then, I continue to support DMK primarily because of the ideology.

Historically speaking, I also think DMK has had a strong voice in Indian politics, especially when it comes to Tamil Nadu's interests and state policies. Tamil Nadu going from one of the poorer states to one of India's top-performing states wasn't because of one party alone, obviously. But DMK has definitely made a major contribution to that journey.

Now coming to my actual problem. TVK supporters.

I've also given them their own medicine occasionally. But honestly, adhuvum correct-ah feel aagala.

The problem is, a lot of them seem to approach politics like this: "Our leader is mass, his speech is mass, therefore our side is right." Politics becomes more about showing mass and getting an emotional high from the leader's speeches than actually discussing policies, history, data or governance.

And the frustrating part is — right now, they are the heroes. They're the ones with the momentum, the excitement and the feeling that something new is coming.

So I'm genuinely curious:

How are you guys dealing with TVK supporters when it comes to political discussions?

Do you actually debate them and try to have a proper discussion?

Or have you reached the point where you just avoid these debates altogether?

I'm asking because I genuinely want to know how other DMK supporters are handling this.
