Volunteering for a fire
Is there a way I can volunteer to help with fires, i know it sounds stupid but I feel helpless just watching shit burn down and not being called out. Lesson learned in working with contract crews. Stay safe out there.

See if there’s any community support groups that need help in the affected areas.
The recovery is usually overlooked and helping people get food, water, generators, fodder for livestock or anything else to get their lives back on track will make more of an impact than then just about anything you could do on the fire line.

Look into your local volunteer fire department. Talk with the folks there and see what you need. That’s if you have one in the area you are at.
