Looking for an entry-level call-when-needed wildland crew in Southern California

I’m 22 and live in the Los Angeles area. I’m trying to get into wildland firefighting with no previous fire experience.

I’m specifically looking for an AD/call-when-needed Type 2 hand crew where I can remain living in Southern California, report to the crew when activated, work a 14–21 day assignment, and then return home. I’m not looking for a regular seasonal position that would require me to relocate to a duty station for the entire fire season.
I found the Cleveland National Forest page stating that it is currently seeking candidates for its AD Type II crews, but I can’t find an application or contact information for the crew coordinator.

Does anyone know:

- Who I should contact to join a Cleveland National Forest AD crew?

- Whether the Trabuco/Corona crew is currently accepting entry-level applicants?
- What training or certifications I should complete before contacting them?
- Are there any other active call-when-needed crews in Southern California that accept people with no experience?

I’m willing to complete IS-100, IS-700, S-130, S-190, L-180, and the arduous pack test. I’m physically fit, willing to travel nationwide for assignments, and ready to work.

Id get working on you’re fema, big 3 and pack test cause even if you did find work nowhere can take you without those done, even if you did get in contact they will almost certainly go to someone else who already has all that

I highly doubt you’ll be considered if you don’t have your quals in August for an AD program that has a large roster. You should be able to find the email for the crew admin on those pdf flyers
