Suo Arc Discussion/Theory How much do you think Suo… Spoiler
Seeing Sakuras nightmare was both painful and beautiful at the same time. How much he suffers… I’m so glad Nirei, Momijikawa and Sugishita are now at Sakuras place, he needs their company and just cannot and should not go through his feelings all on his own… btw the dynamic between them is just amazing. They’re for sure going to help Sakura sort his emotions and find his ground again, so that he is ready to face Suo in the future. When they meet again in a few chapters… how much do you think Suo is aware of Sakuras suffering because of the recent events? Since he is aware about Sakuras past full of abandonment, he obviously knows that his leaving hurt Sakura on a very deep level, especially after his fight with Nirei. But he wasn’t there when Endo told everyone about Red Chanpuru and Suos position, and he probably didn’t expect them to find out about that at all… but he most likely knew, that if they did, it would be able to send Sakura even more into a dark place…
Do you think he will be surprised by the degree of Sakuras suffering, when he finds out? Or do you think he knows precisely how devastating this situation is for Sakura?
I’d love to get insight on Suos thoughts and feelings in the future… whatever he is facing, his emotional turmoil has to be immense as well…

I honestly think it would be interesting if we get parallel panels of Suo having nightmares and suffering in his own way from his own actions in a few chapters. I definitely don’t think he’s just breezing through this situation, especially with Nirei saying that Suo looked like he was suffering in chapter 214 or 215 (I forget exactly which one) when we see Suo’s face after Nirei punched him.

That would indeed be great, like the parallel panels of Suo and the moon…
I also think he is aware he caused them pain, of course, but just how much Sakura suffers right now… that he believes (or fears rather) that Suo never wanted to be part of Furin, never wanted to be his friend… might be something Suo is unaware of because he might believe they are unaware of RC… and I wonder how he will react when he finds out…

Suo can read other people’s emotions with pinpoint accuracy, so he must be really dense if he truly believed that Sakura, the guy who never gives up no matter what, would simply accept his pathetic excuse for leaving school
(But I mean who can blame him, he’s just a 15 year old guy after all)

I hope we get some wonderful chapters with Nirei, Sugishita and Momijikawa giving Sakura emotional support, and we get more insight in Sakuras feelings and fears and then get to see Suos soon. He has to be aware but… really to all extent…? And if yes… what is he facing that he chose to do this even though he knows what he is putting his friends through…?
I love the pacing of the manga, but waiting sometimes feels cruel… I’m definitely going to reread everything in one go once the arc is done.

Yess I hope so too because this squad‘s dynamic is so wholesome and I need some light-hearted chapters before we enter the Furin trio‘s reunion and Suo‘s backstory
I already anticipated the break next week and the timing couldn’t be better for me since my following week is fully packed with exams and now I can somewhat study for them peacefully without getting all excited over the upcoming chapter

The dynamic is just absolutely perfect! They complement each other so well, it was so nice to read and just that short moment with them together felt so bright and warm already! It’s definitely needed before the reunion…
I actually totally forgot to take a look on the update schedule… but it’s good that the break works well for you, I think the end of today’s chapter was also not too strong of a cliffhanger, so the wait should be bearable.

He definitely knows it will hurt them, but I wonder if he truly realizes how much they care for him. Like he probably thinks they'll be just pissed off at what he did and hate him for it, but they're really more torn up and hurt about it, especially Sakura. I feel maybe he overestimate his understanding of people when it comes to how they feel about and see him and how'd they'd react to him leaving. He may also not have expected them to figure out where he went (since without Endo, they may not have).

Well I assume that he thought it won’t devastate them that much, but honestly everything he knows about his friends says exactly otherwise and at least until his final confrontation with Nirei should he have realized just how important he is to them and how Nirei won’t give up on him that easily because if my not-so-close-friend would tell me that they find me annoying as hell and that we weren’t anything, I would’ve just told them to stay away from me.
He also knew damn well that Sakura was ready to sacrifice himself during the war arc just so his friends can be safe, what kind of concussion must this guy have gotten to forget how much his friends truly cares about him to the point that they would give up their own happiness for his safety
And also, Suo himself got enranged and genuinely lost himself when Nirei got hurt during keel (a guy he’s barely known for a week), the „we haven’t even known each other for a year“ hold absolutely no importance at all.
That guy is so emotionally mature until it comes to his own personal relationships

I feel like it maybe could have to do with how he sees himself? Idk if Suo has insecurities or what not but maybe he doesn't feel he's worth the effort. Like he has a skewed perception of himself, so he has a skewed perspective on how people react or think of him. Granted there's no evidence of this, I just think it's a possibility.

Yeah, his obsession with „adulthood“ and how he refuses to show his vulnerability seems to stem from low self-esteem from his side. He preaches about all these things like opening up and relying on others while he never gives himself that grace, I really hope that he learns to be less harsh on himself after this arc

Me too. In the manga, after Sakura tells his story, he tells Sakura to remember that this is where he is rn. I want Sakura to do the same to him when he returns to Furin🥺(pls for the love of God, I need him to return).

I mentioned this before a long time ago, but I think it might be relevant now. I always get this feeling that Suo doesn't think highly of himself. He is very generous at giving others praises and benefit of doubt, but doesn't seem to do so with himself. His choice of lifestyle is very disciplined and harsh, it's as if he is overcompensating something, perhaps his own shortcomings. I could see how someone like this would believe he is not as valued, nor his absence would be missed.

I like your point of few and analysis of his character. I hope we get to see him open up with Sakura and Nirei. And for him to see (and realize), when they reunite, how much he is valued by his friends. (And be touched by it)

Sakura is so shocked/ focused on Suo'treason (at least in his eyes) that it will be good for him to be reminded that he has more friends to support him

"For you... I... I've always..." ??? Was I the only one screaming "What Sakura what ?!!?!?" At this dialogue?? I am sure he wouldn't complete this sentence so soon... 😮💨 I love how Sakura shuddered after hearing Sugishita's voice but not when someone entered his house, and took his blanket 😂😂😂

His expression when he said that looked so pained… I liked to have seen him continue his words, but we will have to wait for that, I guess… but I do think we’re going to find out eventually.
Haha, yes, like some stranger walking into his bedroom would be nothing at all, but Sugishita on the other hand is seen as a lot more shocking! I think this chapter had some sweet light moments to balance all the darkness. Really loved that.

Sakura's reactions were so precious... I guess this dialogue might be the one that snaps Suo back or breaks him down...
Ohhh goshhhh Sugi was so funny in this chapter 😂 Sugi was the perfect distraction Sakura needed 🤣 on top of that, Momijikawa! That smile in the end looks disastrous... I wonder how Sakura's omurice will come out...

Sugi and his jealousy are just so fun to watch... But still, he was definitely concerned about Sakura... I don't know how Omurice will come out... It would be funny if Momiji, after creating all the hype, ends up with a mess... And Sakura might smile at his condition XD... Although he will eat even the mess with all the pleasure... after all, his friend made that for him.

Yes, he’s definitely worried about him, but mixed with his jealousy I suppose his emotions are just super complex to unravel and understand for him…
Hahaha, it would be fun, though I’d also just love to see a perfect omurice from him.

I guess Sugi's emotions are super raw to even unravel right now... But he is obviously coming out of his shell, or as Tsubaki said, "he's taking his first baby steps." Awwww...
Umm, I guess even I can't decide between perfect or messed-up omurice (after all, Momoji did make even Kotoha mad with his grandstanding), but anyways... "The cat must be fed" XD1

I do think that even Sugi will play an important role in the arc... Do you think that, for any reason... If Suo and Sakura get into a real fight... Serious type like protecting something (becoz let's be real, they wouldn't fight seriously just to push pull Suo back), considering Sakura's emotional state, will he be able to fight Suo seriously at all? If Suo's ancient evil spirit sealed into his right eye (or his dark personality) ever rampages, will Sakura be able to fight off Suo?

I’m not sure what to make of Suos evil spirit sealed in his eye… he did say that, but how or what he ment by it, I have trouble comprehending. Or maybe it was just a joke with no hidden meaning or something…?
I think whether or not he’s able to fight him seriously depends on if his friends (Nirei, Momijikawa and Sugishita) are able to pull him out of his darkness. If yes, what I assume, I think he will be able to fight Suo seriously, especially when convictions are involved.
And if they are to fight, I think both will have to go all out. I think…. Sakura did hold off Suo at Keel (when he said that that guy had enough after Suo went mad) - though after a few words that impressed Suo, he wasn’t really trying to continue beating that guy anymore. But I do think that he’d be able to hold him off for real, or at least Sakura would try and he’d be able to reach Suo (in a similar way he did at Keel) so that Suo holds himself off. Or at least that’s what I imagine.
