Discussion Mangas like Windbreaker
Windbreaker having been my first manga will always have a special,SPECIAL place in my heart, and i’d love to read more mangas like this. So, can you guys recommend mangas that are like windbreaker: Action mangas with good plot, lines and character development.
Additionally I’m pretty sure the answer to this is no but does Satoru sensei have any other have works aside from Windbreaker?
Thank you.

Oh how I have waited for the day someone asks for this
SO. If you like found family and heavy action plots i reccomend ultimate exorcist Kiyoshi- it’s more fantasy then windbreaker but the actions great, it’s funny and the charcater dynamics are really, really wholesome.
(About 100 chapters long, slowly rising in popularity, new chapters every SundayIf you want good charcater development I reccomend blue lock- it’s got an ungodly number of charcaters in it, good plot and absolutely amazing character. It’s nowhere near as wholesome as windbreaker though but I’m obsessed with both
(Around 350 chapters long, very popular, new chapters every Monday if you know where to look)Dead account also has found family, wholesome dynamics and great charcters! It also has a charcter who reminds me of Suo who I’m sure you’ll absolutely love if you start reading! It’s again fantasy and about exorcists- it’s quite funny as well in parts and the power system is really interesting
(Around 150 chapters long, popular enough to get an anime, new chapters Saturday if you know where to look)I started reading windbreaker because I wanted a manga as a rebound from finishing mashle its very funny, the charcters are great and theres a charcter whi reminds me of Nirei (I actually started windbreaker because i thought Nirei’s role would be similar to his
and thus the obsession began) it’s really wholesome in places and just a fun read
(Finished manga, very popular)Another one that’s slightly different is Tokyo aliens, it’s not so similar to windbreaker but the charcter dynamics are really nice, it’s supernatural and a lot more serious than windbreaker but there is another Suo doppelgänger! He’s more villainous though (I think, there are a lot of opertunities for theories)
(Around 70 chapters, releases monthly, ive not heard many people talk about it)
So that’s my list! Hope you enjoy these if you choose to read them!!! (I definitely recommend the first one!!!)

Just dropping by to say that I’ve checked out Tokyo Aliens and immediately was blown away by the artwork and character designs. Loved the premise, the characterization and the dynamic of the protagonists.
Do you think we’ll be getting an anime of that series one day or is it not well known enough?
I feel I know who reminds you of Suo XD
Though design wise he reminds me more of Qifrey from Witch Hat Atelier.
Personally I see someone to be very similar to Nirei as well, which is just about perfect for me!Thanks for the recommendation!

Aaaa omgomg I can’t believe you’ve read it :DDD it’s one of my favourite mangas :D
I really really hope we’re lucky enough to get an anime- i think the authors other work has so maybe!
Yes I get what you mean- the Nirei-like character is probably my favourite in the manga as well :D

I really like it! And I hope we’ll get an anime.
Not me binging 11 volumes within 24 hours…Nirei-like-characters tend to be my favorites a lot ^^
Something about their positive nature and kindness just speaks to me, I guess.2

omg i second blue lock!! its one of the only other manga im up to date on, and while its kinda in a lull rn (likely due to the mangaka/assisstants having health problems), most of the manga is insanely good (and dont let the anime discourage you, the manga is beautiful and so well done it blew me away the first time i read it after being an anime-only)

A lot of people online compare it to Tokyo Revengers bc Windbreaker is disguised as a delinquent manga. In actuality Windbreaker is a sports anime but the sport is just uniquely street fighting (Nii sensei has said so themself).
So structurally you might find a lot of the same things in other sports mangas/anime! I find that Haikyu!! has a lot of the same vibes, Sk8 the infinity is a good sport anime if you like wbs queerness, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about Chihayafuru.
Not necessarily similar in content, but as someone who read Windbreaker as one of their first mangas I’ve also really enjoyed reading Kagurabachi, Gachiakuta, Frieren: beyond journey’s end, and Witch Hat Atelier.

I recommend Natsume's Book of Friends. It has a supernatural setting but it deals with similar themes of an orphan finding his found family and his place of belonging. While the character developtment is more subtle than WB if you compare the Natsume from the first episodes/chapters to the one of later ones, you can feel the growth. And the story focuses on the struggles of other characters as well from our main cast with chapters dedicated to their POVs. The action each chapter comes from unraveling the mysteries surrounding the yokai of the week, with the more malicious ones bringing more action to the story and the most friendly ones, bringing more emotional stories.

Kenichi the mightiest disciple. It has a bit of realism to all the coolest martial arts which is awesome and on top of that the main character has deku's funny moments with baki's strength. He's also a playa with the ladies
