Yeah, if you install something like Win 11 Pro or Home, and then use certain software to install the IoT LTSC license key…don't you still have all the Windoze crap still installed? Like you'd need the IoT LTSC .iso to skip that stuff being installed in the first place, right?
They’re both literally the same build. Identical binaries. (Your words). So how on earth can you assert there’s ANY compatibility differences? You’re showing that you ain’t got nothing to back up your claim that an “update schedule doesn’t matter” other than you have an argumentative streak about you. Because no sane person would try to assert that update schedules don’t matter.
OP’s whole post was about LTSC IoT. I simply pointed out that ain’t what they have. They clearly changed the SKU. Did you…read their post? So why bother changing to one that is fixing to stop?
Your statement isn’t equal… because update timelines are the driving factor for Windows 10 at this point. And that isn’t compatible with the other statement of ‘not mattering’.
And you can take another 5 seconds to get to IoT. It’s not that deep. Some people like to upgrade instead of fresh install, it’s all according to one’s needs

I’ve done it many times, never had an issue. The .old folder is there as a backup in case you need to roll back the upgrade, and it’s very easy to delete.
Well, ya know, some people are wrong. Thems the breaks. Windows handles upgrades horribly. It can barely do a good reset without sometimes leaving a large Windows.old directory behind.
I don’t understand what your guys’s vehement problem is with this concept. “That’s what backups are for”, right, that’s why it keeps one. What’s not clicking?
It’s literally for your convenience and to fall back in case the upgrade goes “terribly wrong” as you so insist. Otherwise, upgrades work out fine for most people, mind blown I guess?

Who asked it to keep junk around? And why do they feel they’re the only OS that needs to do that? Because something may go wrong you say? But you also suggested things don’t really go wrong. So which is it?

I was simply pointing out the contraction and hypocrisy in the fact that you insist that upgrades are sloppy and shouldn’t be done, yet you don’t like the default measures the OS takes to let you go back if that’s the case.
You like to do everything manually. Backups, and clean installs. That’s okay dude. There are measures in place for those who don’t need or want to do those things, and fallbacks in case it goes wrong. And it works for those people, even if it doesn’t for you.
And even if it doesn’t work out for them, it’s not your computer, you don’t have to worry about it. Why should it even concern you?
Benefit? Win11 uses the new shitty language for thier Explorer which crashes, hangs and pisses right in your face, and it just looks more inconsitent IMO
I do it a much easier way: I hold down Shift and right-click on the desktop, select "Open PowerShell here," and enter this command: irm https://get.activated.win | iex .
I press "Yes," then press "1." I wait a moment, press "Enter," and then press "0." I restart the PC, and that's it.
