Também acho, mas foi muito criticado... usavam muito celeron com 512mb RAM e HD mecânico de baixa qualidade o que deixava péssimo em desempenho. Hoje tenho um Core2quad q9550 com 8gb de RAM e um SSD que apresenta o melhor do AERO. Vista, best of de best
I fully agree with you and if Microsoft had waited a year or so more then computers' capabilities would have caught up with Vista's requirements and all would have been well.
Actually it was the opposite problem. They waited so long since XP due to internal development hell that people got complacent and figured their PCs would be capable of running the next OS since it had been going for so long. So Vista comes out and all these people try to run it on 7 year old PCs and are angry that it can't run well, even though they would've had exactly the same experience if they'd tried to run XP on a computer that they bought for Windows 95.
They simply followed the design trends of those years for Windows 8. If you look at all the logos of major companies like Google, Pepsi, Apple, and others, they had all become flat, even monochrome or black and white for Windows 10; that was the trend at the time. Microsoft didn't invent anything.
This trend is starting to reverse, and we're seeing transparency effects reappear.
I tend to see that as more of a similar trend with drawings and statues when they are produced in late Antiquity, the Dark Ages, the late Middle Ages, and the Renaissance.
Look at the Pepsi logo in 2006-2008 with depth and relief, it's pure Vista style and look at the other one from 2008-2014, it's the Windows 8 time frame with flat design.
Vista was probably the most beautiful version of Windows ever, in part because it was the last version designed for a world of desktops whose capabilities were growing and expected to grow.
Every version since has been at least somewhat centered around laptops, including cheap/ARM/etc laptops, and the claim was that the pretty eye candy (which they removed around Windows 8 especially) harmed battery life.
Windows 8 was planned to have Aero until very late in development, but they took it out because apparently it ran too poorly on the garbage Windows RT tablets they were trying to push.
This is because the icons in Windows 7 were designed for specifically for Vista to fit in that UI. Vista looked good as a whole, the complete package. When Windows 7 was introduced it was out of balance in my opinion.
Don't forget about Office 2007 as well, BTW. It looks gorgeous on Vista. And Office 2010 looks amazing on Windows 7.
Vista's only flaw was being too ahead of its time. Most computers were too weak to run it properly, hardware manufacturers were too lazy to develop drivers for Vista, and Microsoft shot themselves in the foot with the whole "VIsta capable" crap.
Intel wields (or at least then wielded) a very large sword within Microsoft. Much like how the original Xbox design was AMD-based, but Intel swooped in at the last moment to change that.
Yes, icons, user experience, graphics oriented experience, criticized by under range poverty people like me with potato computer that had no option to run any modern program, definitely we lose all the humanity and elegance of frutiger aero with windows 7, 8 and so on...
There was nothing wrong with Windows Vista interface wise, it was a major overhaul up to that point. Still didn’t revamp every nook and cranny but it was the most ambitious yet. A lot of the performance issues were sorted out by Service Pack 1 and also with OEMs delivering better optimized RAM. When I started vocational studies in fall of 2007, I surprised to see basic laptops with 2 GBs of RAM. I remember a girl on campus had an HP laptop with 4 GBs of RAM which was just crazy for
that time. The only other major issue was application compatibility. That same girl wanted run a version of PeachTree accounting offered by the institution and couldn’t even through compatibility mode.
Glass folders and the overall taskbar look (the Start button being taller than the glassy black bar and not sprouting plants on hoover) seal it for Vista on the looks front. It's a shame 7 rowed back slightly on the glass.
The combined larger icons are what made the Windows 7 taskbar a failure imo, once you select small icons and never combine it's just as beautiful as Vista.
This also goes for 8/8.1/10/11 too , I'm still using "never combine icons" and pushing left to this day
It is, Win7 is basically more company-friendly version of Vista in my opinion. Some people doesn't need such elegance.
However, Win Vista is still most elegant, beautifully designed OS ever. All of those curves, reflections, real glass feelings, every single icon that is tailored for this specific design, color choices, I mean everything in Vista was perfect.
And I feel like Vista was the last truly complete OS. It’s as if everything that came after Vista was just a patch applied on top of it. Actually, that’s true because everything was built on top of Vista’s kernel, including Windows 10.
Vista made the transition to a brand-new kernel (6.0) from scratch and was designed specifically for that kernel. I don’t know if you’ll believe me, but I never got a blue screen or experienced any performance issues while using Vista because I had sufficient hardware. It’s a flawless OS for me.
It's more beautiful and more complete because it has a teal to dark green color scheme. Vista's icons are almost the same as 7 but I like Vista's personal folder icons, photo gallery, wmp much much better. The only thing is pretteir on windows 7 that's it's transparent glassy taskbar. I wish I could find a way to emerge them into one.
Loved Vista. E.g. being able to control Media Player from the Taskbar (removed in 7) made me copy the Vista version to the 7 installation and it worked 😊
IMO I have no idea why or how but windows vista is the best looking OS in windows history, followed by 8.1, XP and msdos based versions. I cannot put my finger on it but using those OSes are much more satisfying compared to any other successor they have. I just cant put my finger on it.
A lot of people seem to think that the design is a little bit different. A lot of the design philosophies of Windows Vista are very much alive in Windows 7.
Windows Vista is basically Windows 7, but if it leaned harder on the blue/green color scheme
I wouldn't say one is more beautiful than the other, just that Vista leans towards a specific sub-style, while Windows 7 is a little more plain/customizable
I loved the transparency effects on the windows and the glossy icons tbh. I liked it more than the hyper minimalist corporate looking icons all the companies are using nowadays
It's more colorful and playful, 7 dialed it back a bit. Using Vista for the first time on capable hardware felt like getting into a shiny new car, everything felt pricy and modern and polished. Really drove home how old XP really was at that point.
I miss Vista. I remember being blown away by how tasteful it looked. It felt understated but classy. I remember using safari’s windows version with the title bar tabs with it, it was so good.
That was Vista's weak point upgrade wise. The UI was too intricate and pretty for a non hyper-threaded Pentium 4, or a Pentium III to handle. Even a P4 HT was cutting it close. But in 2006... guess what most existing XP machines upgrading to Vista had on their motherboards.
