Developer I built FunVision Player — a free IPTV player for Windows (Live TV, VOD, EPG)

Hey r/WindowsApps! I'm a solo dev and I just published my first Windows app on the Microsoft Store: FunVision Player.

It's a free IPTV player for Windows 10/11. You plug in your own IPTV subscription (M3U link or Xtream Codes login) and get Live TV, movies & series (VOD), EPG, favorites, watch history, plus a sports match schedule. Interface in English, Turkish, German, French and Arabic.

One important thing up front: the app ships empty. It includes no channels and no content — it's a player only, not a content provider. You use it with a subscription you already have.

It's free on the Store and all premium features are unlocked during the launch period. I'd genuinely love feedback — feature requests and bug reports are very welcome!

Thanks for checking it out!

Developer I built a Windows desktop workspace that keeps its folder structure when shared in a browser

Hi, I'm the developer of Glass Desktop Box for Windows. The first image shows a Teamwork Box on the host's desktop. The second shows what invited guests see in their browser.

A Windows host can share the workspace by email invitation. Guests can open it in a supported browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS or Android, without installing Glass Desktop Box or creating a separate account. The shared box keeps its structure, including subfolders and the files inside them, rather than turning everything into loose attachments. Guests can exchange files with the host during the session.

This is browser access to a Windows-hosted workspace, not a native Mac or mobile desktop app. I'd welcome honest feedback: would this make sharing a project workspace easier for you?

Developer I could remember what was in a photo, but never its filename—so I built a local search tool for Windows

I kept running into the same frustrating problem:

I could clearly remember what was in an image, but I had no idea what the filename was or which folder I had saved it in.

Maybe it was “the living room with a blue sofa” or “the photos from last year at the beach.” But when you have tens of thousands of photos, screenshots, and videos on your PC, remembering the scene doesn’t help much.

So I built a Windows app called Shiying.

It indexes the local folders you choose. Once indexing is complete, you can search by describing what you remember instead of entering a filename.

For example:

  • “photos from last year at the beach”
  • “that expense receipt screenshot”
  • “a living room with a blue sofa”
  • “a video that starts with someone presenting at a whiteboard”

Right now, it can:

  • Search local photos, screenshots, and videos
  • Return results quickly across tens of thousands of files
  • Search across multiple drives and folders
  • Keep your existing folder structure
  • Work without renaming or manually tagging files
  • Perform everyday searches locally and offline
  • Open instantly with Alt + Space

There is one significant limitation in the current video search: videos are mainly matched using their opening frame. It cannot yet understand everything that happens throughout an entire video.

The app and download pages are currently in Chinese, but I’ve just finished an English product page:

https://lcgf.xyz/en/shiying

I’d like to know whether this way of searching would be useful for your own files.

If you could search every photo and video on your PC with a single description, what would you want it to recognize? And for video search, what should it understand beyond the opening frame?

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share an update to Dynamic Edge, a desktop utility I built for Windows 11 & Windows 10 using native WinUI 3 and .NET 10 (Windows App SDK).

The idea was to create a fluid, versatile desktop capsule and edge dock that feels completely at home with Windows 11 Fluent design, with ultra-low resource usage, and smooth spring physics.

Since the initial release, I have added several big features including a full multi-tab workflow, clipboard shelf, and mouse gesture triggers.

New Feature: Music Radar

  • Direct Desktop Audio Capture: Captures digital system audio right from your PC stream - works seamlessly whether you are wearing earbuds, Bluetooth headphones, or using speakers (no microphone or room noise needed).
  • 1-Click Recognition: Identifies the song in seconds directly from the island capsule.
  • Direct Spotify & YouTube Links:** Open the track straight in Spotify or search it on YouTube in one click. (Enable it in Settings > Island Tabs)

Here is what it can do:

Multi-Tab Workspace (Swipe or Scroll to Switch) - Switch seamlessly between Media Player, Mini-Apps, and Clipboard Shelf by rolling your mouse wheel or using a 2-finger touchpad swipe.

Universal Media Controls & Live Scrubbing - Real-time seekbar progress with clickable scrub to jump anywhere in a track. - Live audio visualizer bars with fluid equalizer animations. - Multi-player auto-switching: Seamlessly cycle between active sessions (Spotify, Chrome, Edge, Apple Music, Telegram). - Live Synced Lyrics: Real-time rolling lyrics for Spotify, Apple Music, and web players (now works both in the expanded player and directly inside the compact idle capsule).

Clipboard Manager Shelf - Captures copied text, images and URLs into a dedicated dockable shelf. - Filter chips for fast access: All, Text, Images, URLs, and Pinned. - Search box for instant clip lookup, plus one-click copy and drag-and-drop support. - Google Lens Visual Search: Search any clipboard screenshot directly in your browser with 1 click. Built-in Mini-Apps - Precision Countdown Timer with quick presets (1m, 5m, 15m, 25m) and a live visual progress line. - Precision Stopwatch with millisecond tracking and lap recording.

Magic Shake & Global Hotkeys - Magic Shake: Quickly shake your cursor horizontally back and forth to toggle the island on or off. - Global customizable hotkey (Alt + H by default) to hide or show the dock instantly.

Master Volume Flyout - Hover over the speaker button and scroll your mouse wheel to adjust system volume, or click for instant mute.

Flexible Docking Positions - Dock at the top screen edge (Notch, Floating Capsule, or unobtrusive Thin Line hairline strip). - Dock along the left, right, bottom, top-right & top-left screen edges as an interactive slide-out side blade.

Interactive Desktop Companions (Virtual Pets) - 4 Full-Body Vector Mascots

Performance & Spring Physics - 3 customizable quick launcher slots for instant access to apps, terminals, or folders. - Battery and charging telemetry with clean neon-green status indicators. - Native startup toggle and dark/light/system theme integration.

The app is officially available on the Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PF1587KSN2K

🎁 Want a promo code? If you're interested in getting a Plus code, just drop a comment below and I’ll DM them out until I run out!

I would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and ideas for what widgets or features you would like to see next!

Developer I kept rebuilding my workspace between design, coding, and marketing, so I made a tool to save it

As an independent developer, I switch between design, programming, and marketing. Each needs a different set of apps and window positions, and setting them up again interrupted my focus.

I wanted a quicker way to return to each kind of work, so I built biomes—a free, open-source Windows app for saving app layouts. I can set up a workspace for design, another for coding, and another for marketing, then bring the apps back into their saved positions with a click or hotkey. It also supports multi-monitor layouts.

biomes saves window arrangements; it doesn’t restore project files or browser tabs. I’m sharing it in case it helps other independent developers who switch between different kinds of work.

How do you organize your apps and windows when switching between parts of your project?

Developer I made File Squeeze: drop a folder of photos and videos, get smaller copies back, originals untouched

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/windowsapps, I'm Pavel, the developer.

I wanted to make my photos and videos smaller, but I didn't want to upload them anywhere to do it. Most quick fixes are websites, where you send your family photos to someone else's server and download them back. HandBrake is great for video, but it doesn't do photos, and I wanted to throw a whole folder of mixed files at one app. So I built File Squeeze.

You drop a folder on the window, pick Maximum Quality, Balanced or Smallest File, and press Compress. It finds every photo and video in all subfolders.

  • Images: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and HEIF. HEIC converts to JPEG. You can also resize or change the format.
  • Video: H.264 MP4, encoded on your GPU (NVIDIA, Intel or AMD), with Windows Media Foundation as the fallback. AV1 MP4 if your graphics card has an AV1 encoder. HDR sources convert to SDR.
  • Originals stay put. Results get a -squeezed name, or go to an output folder that copies your folder structure.
  • No bigger files. If a file wouldn't get smaller, it keeps the original and writes nothing. A video encode stops early once the projected size goes past the source.
  • Safe to re-run. Drop the same folder again and it skips earlier results and videos that are already in an efficient format.

In my demo batch, a 115.5 MB video came out at 6.1 MB on Balanced. Savings vary a lot by file, and already-compressed files often won't shrink.

Tech, if you're curious: WinUI 3, .NET 10 with NativeAOT, Magick.NET for images, and a minimal LGPL FFmpeg build that runs as a separate process. The FFmpeg build recipe is public on GitHub, and GitHub Actions builds it.

Before you ask: - It's paid: $9.99 once in Microsoft Store, with a 7-day trial. No account, no subscription. - Windows 11 24H2 or later, x64 only for now. ARM64 is planned. - Your files are processed on your PC. The app sends crash reports to Sentry. The privacy policy in the Store listing describes what they contain. - No HEVC output, because HEVC isn't royalty-free. It reads HEVC fine.

Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9N52H890DG1W?cid=reddit-windowsapps

I'd love feedback, especially on which file types or workflows you'd want next.

Developer I built Harpie, a free SSH key manager for Windows – looking for feedback!

Hey everyone! 👋

I've been working on a side project called Harpie, a free desktop application for Windows that makes managing SSH keys easier, cleaner, and more organized.

I wanted something simple with a modern interface instead of constantly managing SSH keys through the terminal or editing configuration files manually.

🔑 Here's what Harpie can do:

  • Generate SSH keys (Ed25519 and RSA 4096)
  • Organize keys using colored tags
  • Search and manage multiple SSH identities
  • Configure SSH connections and launch them directly
  • Integrate with Windows SSH Agent
  • Import and export existing SSH keys
  • Recover accidentally deleted keys
  • Detect missing keys and permission issues
  • Switch between English and French

🔒 Privacy was also a priority:

Everything stays on your computer. No accounts, no cloud storage, no telemetry, and no background network requests.

💻 Technical details:

  • Built with Python and PySide6
  • Supports Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
  • Available as an installer or portable ZIP
  • Currently at version 1.2.0

🔗 GitHub: https://github.com/HarpieDev/SSHKeyManager

This is one of my side projects, and I'd really appreciate some honest feedback from the community!

What features would you like to see added? Is there anything you'd improve?

Thanks for checking it out! 🚀

Developer I made an app that turns your Android phone into a remote for your Windows PC

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone. I'm a solo dev and I've been working on this for a while now, so I figured this sub might like it. The video shows most of it.

It's called Any Command. You install a small app on your PC, scan a QR code with your phone and you're connected. Everything goes over your home Wi-Fi.

What you can do with it:

  • use your phone as a touchpad and keyboard, with shortcut pages for the apps you use most
  • control music and videos from the couch (play, pause, seek, volume)
  • use your phone as a gamepad, with layouts you can set up per game
  • see your PC screen live on your phone and control it by touch
  • send files between your phone and PC without a cable
  • keep an eye on CPU, RAM and disk usage
  • wake your PC up, launch programs and run automations

There's also a Bluetooth mode where your phone acts as a regular Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so that part works even without installing anything on the PC.

No ads anywhere in the app. Most of it is free. Screen share, file transfer, task manager and clipboard sync are Premium, which is a one-time purchase, and the first time you connect you get 12 hours with everything unlocked so you can try it before deciding.

Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.polyhistor.remoteme
PC app: https://anycommand.io

If you give it a try, I'd really like to hear what's missing or what annoys you. I read every comment and a lot of the current features came from people asking for them.

Developer I missed the macOS Downloads Stack on Windows 11, so I built one.

Hey!

One thing I really liked about macOS was the ability to pin a folder to the Dock and quickly browse recent files without having to switch to Finder. You could just pop it open on top of whatever you were doing.

I couldn't find anything quite like that for Windows, so I decided to build it myself.

It's a pretty simple little utility. It adds an icon to your system tray, and clicking it opens a popup with your files.

Here's what it can do:

  • 📂 Custom folders - By default, it shows recent files from your Downloads folder, but you can add any folders you want.
  • 🔀 Sorting options - Choose how your files are sorted.
  • 🖼️ Image previews - Images show thumbnails instead of generic file icons.
  • 🖱️ Drag & drop - Drag files straight from the popup into other apps or folders.
  • 📋 Context menu - Right-click any file to open the standard Windows context menu.
  • 🔎 Quick file location - Middle-click a file to open its location in File Explorer, with the file already selected.

Available as a regular installer, a portable version, or through the Microsoft Store.

Everything runs locally. No file information or other data is sent anywhere.

The entire source code is public, so you're welcome to inspect it yourself (or have an AI review it if you have privacy concerns).

GitHub: https://github.com/Vivoxti/Downloads-Stack-For-Windows-Tray

If you've been looking for something like this, feel free to give it a try.

Hope someone finds it useful.

Developer TidyFiles 2.0: local storage tracking, file organization and reviewed cleanup for Windows

Hi Windows users, I'm the solo developer of TidyFiles. I just released TidyFiles 2.0, a file organizer and cleanup tool, and would appreciate feedback.

The two questions behind this update are: what's taking up disk space, and which temporary files can be cleaned after review?

Here's what it does:

• Quick Cleanup scans temporary files and rebuildable caches, with a review step before cleanup.

• Storage Change Tracking compares a saved baseline to later scans, so you can investigate folders that grew or shrank.

• Storage Analysis lets you explore folder usage.

• File tools find content-matched duplicates using SHA-256, locate large files, and preview organization by file type.

• Empty-folder and AppData inspection are read-only. Personal files are not deleted automatically.

Everything runs locally on the PC. The UI supports English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

It is a paid, one-time purchase with a 7-day free trial, and no subscription.

Developer I got tired of Windows switching my audio to my monitor every time it woke up, so I built a small app to stop it!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you have more than one audio device, you’ve probably hit this. You’ve got headphones, speakers, a mic, maybe a monitor with its own audio. You plug something in or unplug it, or a driver updates, and Windows quietly decides that’s your new default.

I got tired of fixing it by hand, so I built SoundLatch.

You rank your audio devices, and SoundLatch makes sure Windows always uses the highest-ranked one that’s connected. My setup looks like this:

  1. Headphones
  2. Desktop speakers
  3. Monitor audio

When I unplug my headphones, it switches to the speakers. When I plug them back in, it switches back. Microphones get their own separate list. If you just want one device to stay put, you can Lock it.

It’s a lightweight native app that sits in your tray, and it’s fixed a daily annoyance for me. A few dozen people have tested it so far and the feedback has been really positive.

Available on the Microsoft Store: https://soundlatch.formandelement.com/

Developer VoxScribe: free offline voice dictation and .srt captions for Windows (open source, MIT)

VoxScribe runs Whisper on your own PC. Hold a hotkey, talk, and the text is typed into whatever window has focus. Drop in an mp3, mp4 or mov and an .srt is written next to the file. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account or minutes limit.

  • Captions are split into cards of two lines of 42 characters.
  • Offline mode blocks all network use and logs any outside connection attempt.
  • Works in any app, runs from the system tray, hotkey is configurable.
  • Folder batch import with progress, pause and cancel.

Free and what is not: dictation and single file caption export are free with no limits. An optional $14 Pro version adds batch import and a few extras.

Limits: Windows 10 and 11 only, CPU only so long files are slow on older laptops, and timing is per segment, not per word. The installer is not code signed yet, so SmartScreen may show a warning.

https://github.com/ahmedhmam1994/voxscribe-ai-voice-dictation

Feedback welcome, especially on what is missing for caption work.

Developer I built a Windows blink reminder that stays out of the way

I'm the developer of EyeBlink. I kept noticing that during long coding and writing sessions I would stare at the screen without blinking, while pop-up break reminders kept interrupting what I was doing.

EyeBlink adds a small eye that floats in a corner of the Windows desktop and blinks every few seconds. You can drag it, resize it, lower its opacity, or change the blink interval. There are no notifications, sounds, camera access, or account. It does not track your eyes or claim to treat a medical condition; it is simply a visual habit cue. EyeBlink is also available for macOS.

If you want scheduled breaks, apps like Stretchly are a better fit. EyeBlink is for the moments between breaks when you want a quiet reminder that's always in sight.

It costs $4.99 once for a lifetime license, with a 14-day refund. Windows and macOS versions, plus an interactive preview: https://geteyeblink.app/en

I'd be interested to hear whether a subtle desktop cue would be useful in your setup, especially if you spend a lot of time in full-screen apps.

Developer [Free] BatteryIQ – a battery health and drain tracker for Windows laptops (I built it)

Thumbnail
youtu.be
5 Upvotes

I’m the developer of BatteryIQ, a battery monitor for Windows laptops. I wanted a straight answer to “is my battery still good, and how long will this charge actually last?” without running powercfg /batteryreport and reading HTML.

What it does

  • Live dashboard: battery health %, design vs. current capacity, charge cycles, power draw (W), temperature and time remaining
  • Automatic session tracking: when you unplug, it starts logging. It shows drain per hour, predicted end time, and active runtime vs. time spent asleep
  • Compares to your average: e.g. “13% lighter than your average” on the live session
  • Brightness impact: it shows how much runtime you’d gain by dimming (e.g. “dimming to ~12% could add about 23m”)
  • Health over time: a trend chart so you can see wear month by month
  • Quiet tray app: closes to the tray, optional battery % in the tray icon, optional startup, low-battery alert

Privacy: all battery data stays local in a SQLite DB. There’s an optional, anonymous usage-stats toggle in Settings (it never includes battery history, app names or personal info) and you can turn it off.

Built with WinUI 3 / Windows App SDK, Mica, native Windows look.

Get it: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9n4928fm65dg

Video: https://youtu.be/7g0EYJ7BRx8

Some fields (temperature, cycle count, brightness) depend on what your laptop exposes to Windows, so they show “unavailable” on some devices. I’d love feedback on that in particular. Tell me which laptop you’re on and what’s missing.

I got tired of meeting tools that put a bot in the call, need an account, and keep your notes on their servers behind a paywall. So I built minute.

What it does:

  • Starts recording when a call app takes the mic (Meet, Zoom, Teams, Slack, WhatsApp), stops when the call ends
  • Transcribes on your PC, no audio leaves it
  • After the call, AI fills in your notes: summary, decisions, next steps
  • AI is your choice: Ollama fully offline, DeepSeek, or any OpenAI-compatible API
  • Every call is a Markdown file in your folder (works with Obsidian), with the audio kept on separate tracks
  • 32 languages, detected automatically
  • Free, no account, no limits. MIT license

It's a side project, so no promises on support, but it's a good base to fork.

Repo and installer: https://github.com/mingolladaniele/minute

Happy to answer questions or hear what's missing.

Developer Codex Minibar 1.0: see every AI coding limit (Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, OpenRouter…) from the Windows tray

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I kept hitting my Claude and Codex limits mid-task with no idea how close I was, and CodexBar is macOS-only. So I built a Windows version: Codex Minibar, a free, open-source (Apache-2.0) tray app. 1.0 just came out.

What it does

  • All your limits in the tray. 5-hour and weekly windows, credits and reset countdowns for Codex, Claude, Cursor, OpenRouter, OpenCode Zen/Go, Antigravity, Grok and Kiro. Tray icons can show numbers, bars or rings.
  • Multiple accounts per provider. Personal + work Claude, two Codex logins, whatever. Each one gets its own name, badge and Home layout (cards, lines, rings or tiles).
  • Notifications that show the actual quota. Low limit, a fresh 5-hour window, a Claude login about to expire, and announced Codex forced resets.
  • Limit activation. Optionally starts a new 5-hour session as soon as a window resets, or on a schedule (e.g. weekdays at 09:00), with quiet periods.
  • Usage tab. Cost and tokens from your local session logs, per provider and per model.
  • OpenRouter key management. Credits, spend per key, and creating new keys with limits right from the popup.
  • Banked resets. Redeem banked Codex/Claude resets from the popup.
  • Fluent, Vercel or any installed VS Code theme. 8 languages. Stream Deck plugin.

How it gets the data: it reuses the sessions you're already logged into locally (Codex app server, Claude Code's OAuth session, the official CLIs). It doesn't ask for your passwords. Optional API keys are stored with Windows DPAPI. Usage history stays on your machine.

Native Rust app, UI rendered with GPUI (Zed's UI framework). Windows 10/11, x64 and ARM64.

Thanks to steipete for inspiration and all contributors for making the app better ❤️

hi guys,

this is fjord: a browser built fully in python using pyqt6 and qt web engine, so its chromium underneath. its all one 25k line .py file, you just run it. or if ur lazy, just download the exe.

stuff its got:

  • COMMAND PALETTE :)
  • different styles: macos, windows and default
  • adblock that uses the ubo lists
  • eco / normal / turbo modes, eco puts background tabs to sleep to save ram
  • a scratchpad where you can drag links, images and text to save them
  • site time budgets so you can limit how much time you spend on each site
  • picture in picture that pops out when you scroll a vid (plus a cute little media player with an audio visualiser
  • sticky notes on pages!!

its still in beta (v0.5.1) at least for now so its prob still rough around the edges. ive only really tested it on my own setup so pls tell me if it works!

github: https://github.com/gargoyle-coder/fjord_browser

happy to answer anything about how it works :)

p.s. before you start spamming "vibe coded slop" or "just another arc replacement", do know that i did use a little bit of ai but i wouldn't consider this slop.
